After returning from the hospital, Lena went straight to Ashford Manor.
She had already submitted her advanced study application. In ten days, she would be flying to France.
As soon as Lena stepped through the door, Zachary called her over. Only then did she notice that several Ashford family elders. were also present.
She glanced around. As expected, Robert was nowhere to be
seen.
Ever since their accidental intimate encounter, he had been avoiding her.
Even though he eventually agreed to marry her under family pressure, his attitude toward her was never the same as before.
When the elders saw Lena, their kind gazes unconsciously fell on her abdomen.
“Lena, come sit beside me. Tell me what kind of wedding you’d like. I’ll have Gideon and Diana make the arrangements.”
Zachary took out an old wooden box.
“This is the emerald bracelet my wife wore. She said I should

Lena was about to decline. She was leaving soon. This emerald bracelet was meant for Robert’s wife, and she couldn’t accept it.
Just then, Robert pushed open the door and walked in.
Their eyes met, and she noticed a beautiful woman standing behind him–his lover, Colette.
Zachary, already irritated by Robert’s gloomy expression, grew even more displeased when he spotted Colette.
“I called you back to discuss your wedding with Lena. Why did you bring an outsider?”
Colette blushed with embarrassment and timidly tugged at Robert’s sleeve.
He gave her a reassuring look, and she followed him inside.
“You can decide about the wedding yourselves. Why did you insist I come back? I was in the middle of discussing something with Colette, but your urgent calls forced me to bring her along.”
Facing the elders‘ angry stares, Robert weakly explained, “Colette and I are just friends.”
Zachary snorted, then proceeded to discuss Robert and Lena’s wedding right in front of Colette.
Robert pretended to listen indifferently, but Lena clearly noticed

the intimate gestures between him and Colette under the table.
Colette had hooked her fool around his and was caressing it repeatedly.
Lena suddenly recalled scenes from her previous life, when Robert would occasionally bring Colette around after their marriage, flaunting their relationship in front of her.
Just like now, they would make these disgusting gestures in her presence, with Colette deliberately showing off kiss marks.
If this had been the old Lena, she would have felt utterly repulsed, but now she felt nothing.
Zachary called her name several times before she snapped back to reality.
“Lena, don’t worry. Though time is tight, I’ve discussed it with Gideon and Diana–the wedding will have every necessary ceremony!”
Robert’s brother, Gideon Ashford, asked Lena which members of the Moreau family she planned to invite, saying he would send invitations tomorrow.
Gideon’s wife, Diana Ashford, smiled as she took Lena’s hand, carefully advising her about precautions during early
pregnancy.
Zachary deliberately cleared his throat, finally drawing Robert’s attention.
