Chapter 9
The loud banging on the door startled Colette. She shouted angrily toward the entrance: “Who is it? Why are you knocking so hard? Are you crazy?”
But when the door opened, she froze.
Robert stood at her doorstep, his face filled with rage, staring coldly at her.
“Robert? Is that you?”
Immediately, Colette switched to a joyful expression, shaking Robert’s arm and acting coquettish as usual.
She ignored the aggressive knocking and his anger. In this moment, she was completely filled with a sense of victory.
She thought: “I’ve beaten Lena again. And on her wedding night, no less, I’ve managed to steal Robert back to my side.”
“Oh Robert, I just knew you’d come tonight! I’ve been waiting for you! I would have cried my eyes out if you hadn’t shown up.”
Colette took Robert’s hand and led him inside, noticing his hand was cold.
Before she could ask why, he coldly questioned: “I don’t see you actually crying yourself to death.”

Colette’s heart skipped a beat. She thought she must have misheard him. After all, Robert had never been harsh with her
before.
She asked in surprise: “Robert, what did you just say?”
Robert didn’t answer, but his eyes said everything.
Colette suddenly felt uneasy, carefully tugging at his sleeve.
“Robert, what’s wrong with you today? Did Lena make you angry again?”
Robert rarely showed his emotions. The few times he had been angry were because of Lena.
Colette assumed this time was the same, guessing that Lena had prevented him from leaving on their wedding night, causing them to fight.
She never imagined he had come to confront her.
Robert violently pushed Colette’s hand away. He grabbed her throat with one hand while holding up Lena’s phone with the other, showing their chat conversation in front of her face.
With a dark expression, he growled through gritted teeth: “Colette!”
He was restraining his fury, stopping himself from seriously hurting her.

“Why are you still pretending with me? How DARE you hurt Lena behind my back?
“I warned you not to mess with Lena. Did you ignore that?
“Lena is the woman I want to marry. You are nothing!”
Robert shouted the last sentence extremely loud, as if confirming the truth in his heart.
This was the secret he had buried inside. He wanted to marry Lena, and Colette was merely a distraction.
Now that he dared to face his true feelings, he realized how foolish he had been before!
Colette never imagined that the person she had been chatting with was Robert. She was terrified by his rage.
She had never seen him like this before.
Realizing that continuing to act vulnerable wouldn’t work, she placed her hand on her abdomen and cried out in pain.
“Robert, my stomach hurts so much. You’re scaring our baby!”
She thought: “Fortunately, I had planned this well in advance. I got pregnant with his child when Robert was most infatuated with me.”
“How is that possible? I always used protection!”
Chapter 9
Although Robert suspected this might be another of Colette’s lies, he loosened his grip.
“How is it not possible? Even doctors say the safe period isn’t always safe!”

Colette laughed inwardly. Every month, there were a few days. when she would ask Robert not to use protection, claiming it was her safe period.
But no one knew that she deliberately told him her ovulation period was her safe period.
It only took two months for her to successfully get pregnant with his child.
Seeing Robert’s expression soften, Colette immediately burst into tears and wailed.
She knew he couldn’t stand her crying. In the past, whenever she cried, he would immediately become anxious.
No matter how important the business he was handling, he would rush to her side.
But this time, Colette miscalculated.
Robert’s hand, which had just relaxed, tightened again as he shouted fiercely: “Then go get an abortion right away!”
He was truly furious. He thought: “No other woman deserves to

have my child. I only want Lena to bear my children.
And since Lena’s baby is already gone, Colette’s child cannot
remain!
Otherwise, how can I win Lena back?”
The thought of Lena’s departure sent another wave of pain through Robert’s heart.

If only he had recognized his feelings for her earlier, how much better things would have been–her child wouldn’t have been aborted.
That was their first child together.
But she had called him Uncle Robert for eleven years, and he was a full ten years older than her.
Lena was young, but Robert had been navigating society for many years. His thinking had long been constrained by traditional moral and ethical concepts.
On the day she confessed, he should have followed his true feelings and bravely been with her.
But at that time, he truly couldn’t bring himself to accept her
love.
Fortunately, he had clarity now. He was determined to win Lena back.
