Chapter 17
Carl explained. “Here are the stock transfer papers from Everbright Group. I’ve put all my shares in your name.”
“Grandpa, I can’t accept this, Yanina said, shaking her head.
Carl pushed the box into her arms with determination. “You have to take these shares.
I’m still here, and Sherry and Christina are already treating you like this. If I’m gone, they won’t let you off easily.
“And giving you these shares is like giving them to Cameron. So why can’t you accept them?”
Yanina replied, “Grandpa, I know you mean well. You want the best for me and asked me to marry Cameron before because he’s your best grandson.
“But Yanina hesitated, unsure how to tell Carl about her divorce from Cameron.
After a moment, she added quietly, “If you insist, let’s wait until your great–grandchild is born. For now, please keep them for yourself”
She mentioned Carl’s future great–grandchild but carefully left out that it would not be hers and Cameron’s.
At the mention of a great–grandchild, Carl’s face lit up with joy. Creat! You and Cameron need to work on that! I can’t wait to hold my great–grandbaby!”
Suddenly, Carl remembered something else. He reached for the bookshelf and took out a brocade box. Inside were two cups and a pot–they belonged to the exact “Heritage Rose” Tea Set Yanina had auctioned.
“Grandpa, what are these for?” Yanina asked in surprise.
The Heritage Rose‘ Tea Set you auctioned isn’t complete without the two cups and the pot. Since you’ve gotten the four cups, you might as well take these three items too.”
Thank you, Grandpa Yanina carefully tucked them away.
Suddenly, John knocked on the door. “Mr. Zamora, Mr. Cameron Zamora is back to pick up Mrs. Yanina Zamora.
Cameron’s back? Yanina thought.
“Humph, he’s done the right thing. Go on, I hope to hold a great grandchild soon, Carl said with a smile.
Yanina nodded and got up, holding the tea cups and pot. John entered the study, watched her leave, and closed the door behind her.
“How’s the investigation going?” Carl asked as he looked up.
John lowered his voice. “Mr. Cameron Zamora went to see Ms. Stark…”
“Is that so?” Carl frowned slightly, deep in thought.
In the living room, Cameron took Yanina’s hand, acting like a loving couple.
“What did Grandpa want with you?” he asked casually.
“He gave me the final pieces of the Ivy League Scholar Tea Set

“Grandpa really dotes on you, Cameron said, a smile spreading across his face.
65%
“He’s genuinely good to me, you don’t have to be sarcastic, Yanina replied, worried that Cameron was reminding her not to tell Grandpa about the divorce.
Cameron shrugged and took her hand. “Come with me.”
Yanina couldn’t pull away, so she let him lead her to their bedrogin. When he opened the door, the mouthwatering smell of food wafted in. Two bowls of chicken noodle soup sat on the table.
Cameron handed her a fork. “Let’s eat some noodles together.”
Yanina hadn’t eaten much at dinner with Goldenlight Entertainment. Since arriving at the Zamora residence, she had only drunk water and dealt with Sherry and Steven for so long that she was really hungry.
After thinking for a moment, she took the fork and started eating small bites
Cameron watched her, saying, “I know you don’t eat onions.”
His casual remark surprised Yanina. She never expected him to notice her food preferences,
She looked at the side dishes again–asparagus stir fry and vegetable salad–her favorites.
“What is Cameron trying to do? Is he feigning warmth? He rushed out to the hospital without having dinner with his family to check on Callie earlier. This meal is likely just takeout, Yanina thought to herself.
By the way, the Watson family is looking for you. They want to thank you for saving that sick girl, Cameron said, breaking her thoughts.
“It was just a coincidence. They don’t need to go to so much trouble, Yanina replied, shaking her head.
As the two slurped their noodles, a sudden knock at the door startled them. Cameron glanced at Yanina and then stood up to answer it
“Mr. Zamora, it’s raining heavily out there,” John said, peering in Your grandpa wants you and Mrs. Zamora to stay here for the night. He thinks it’s too dangerous to drive.”
He held out a small box. “And here’s an aromatherapy candle for sleep. He thought you might need it.”
Cameron looked out the window; rain was slamming against the glass. “Got it, he replied, accepting the candle.
“Have a good night’s sleep, John said with a knowing smile before quietly closing the door behind him.
of John’s
Yaning frowned at John’s look, thinking, “What was that supposed to mean? We are already divorced.
“Today… Yanina and Cameron both started and then paused, glancing at each other.
“Go ahead” Cameron gestured for her to continue.
“Don’t you need to see Callie?” she asked.
There are doctors taking care of her
Yanina was taken aback. Since Callie had returned, Cameron had been practically glued to her side. She thought, ‘He rushed out to the hospital earlier. Why does he seem unconcerned about her now?
Noucing her confusion, Cameron added, “Callie and I studied at Mandora University together. There weren’t many students from Zepyria, so they formed a small club Callie and 1 both joined it. That’s how we got close.

“When I had my car accident, she was the one who rushed me to the hospital regardless of the red lights and took care of me the whole time. I’ve always been grateful for that.
“She’s only got three years left to live. I can’t just ignore that. In fact, Callie and I…”
“Whatever you have with her doesn’t involve me,” Yanina cut in, her voice firm. She understood what he was getting at.
Callie had saved his life and he had been grateful. Now that Callie didn’t have much time left, he felt obligated to be there for Callic.
Fine! As long as you’re happy. Just leave me out of it. Yanina couldn’t help but think.
After a year of marriage, she was fed up with Cameron’s indifference. Callie was just the last straw.
Seeing her smile made Cameron uneasy. He offered, “T’ll sleep on the sofa tonight…”
But before he could finish, she interrupted him again. “This is your room. You sleep on the bed; I’ll take the sofa.” She grabbed her pajamas from the cabinet and headed into the bathroom.
Watching her leave, Cameron felt an odd mix of frustration and desire. It had been over three months since he had been with a woman, but Yanina seemed completely uninterested in him.
He walked over to the mirror, taking stock of himself–strong jaw, piercing eyes, confident presence.
Outside, women had often eyed him with interest, practically begging to come home with him. But not Yanina. He had tried to show her kindness, but it was like she didn’t even notice him. It was infuriating.
Letting out a frustrated sigh, Cameron called a domestic worker and told her to clear away the dishes. Then, he flicked on the aromatherapy candle John had brought.
Feeling refreshed. Yanina emerged from the bathroom, her skin still slightly damp from the shower and her hair half–dried, Cameron couldn’t help but notice the rosy glow of her cheeks and the way the bath had softened her look. His gaze lingered on her unexpectedly, and he felt his throat tighten.
