Chapter 38
“Boring.” Yanina said, rolling her eyes at him.
Shawn’s cheerful laughter echoed throughout the room.
“Looks like you’re okay, so I’m heading out. I’ve got a flight to Mandora tomorrow,” said Yanina.
“All right. See you tomorrow,” Shawn said, giving a nod.
“Not so fast. I want to keep Shawn company, Yetta pouted, reluctant to leave.
Yanina grabbed Yetta by the arm. ‘Can you not be such a hopeless romantic?”
Yetta gave an unwilling look, following Yanina out of the hospital.
Scott watched Shawn and couldn’t hold back a mocking remark. “You really care that much about her? What about your own health? That injury of yours isn’t going to heal overnight. If you go shooting tomorrow, it’s you who’s going to suffer. I really don’t know what kind of spell she’s cast on you.”
Shawn let out a self–deprecating chuckle. T’m just trying to win her over. Better show her some respect; she’s going to be the future Mrs. Haney. By the way, did they change the director?” Shawn’s usual playful demeanor shifted to a serious. expression.
Scott quickly straightened up. “Funny enough, I was about to call and let them know about the director change, but someone beat me to it. The new director is Jordan, one of the most famous directors in the country. I didn’t have the guts to invite him myself; as for who did… Scott glanced secretly at Shawn.
Shawn furrowed his brow; he instantly knew that in Yvale, there were only a handful of people who could get Jordan on board. Since Cameron is still in Mandora, it couldn’t be him. The only one from the Zamora family with that kind of influence is Carl, but he has long since retired. Who could it be he mused.
Not wanting to overthink it, Shawn shrugged it off. A change in director was a good thing anyway. Thinking about heading/ to Mandora tomorrow, his mood lifted, and he even looked forward to running into Cameron again. He still needed to settle the score for that punch at South Haven Apartments.
Yanina left the hospital and took a taxi back to SouthHaven Apartments. As soon as she reached her door, her phone rang. It was Sherry. After a moment’s hesitation, she picked up.
“Yanina! You jinx! What have you done to Chris? Ruining my son’s marriage wasn’t enough. Now you’re getting Chris thrown in jail! The biggest mistake of my life was adopting you, an ungrateful bastard!” Sherry shouted, sounding completely frantic.
Yanina sighed softly. “Mrs. Zamora, you should ask Chris what she did to end up being taken away by the police. She’s the one who broke the law; it has nothing to do with me. And by the way, it was Mr. Carl Zamora who adopted me, not you. That’s all. Goodbye” With that, Yanina hung up and immediately blocked Sherry.
Sherry couldn’t believe Yanina had the audacity to hang up on her. “That little witch!” she cursed.
Next, Sherry tried calling Cameron, but his phone was off. Since when does a workaholic like him turn his phone off? This has to be Yanina’s doing, trying to keep him from rescuing Chris That venomous woman! she thought.
Sherry was to mad that she wanted to tear Yanina apart. She began pacing around the living room. Ethan had warned her before he left, sternly prohibiting her from coddling Christina any longer. If he found out Christina was in police custody, he would definitely leave her there for a few days to teach her alesson. But as a mother, how could she just sit by while her daughter was in jailt
After a long moment of worry, she finally called Steven. “What actly happened, Steven?”

Chapter 38
“Yanina and Chris had a fight at the hotel, and Chris accidentally spilled hot water on Shawn. Yanina then exaggerated the story and pushed Shawn to sue Chris. Shawn is the son of the Haney family in Wavecrest, so it’s a bit complicated to handle
said Steven.
Sherry was fuming after hearing Steven’s words. “That ungrateful witch! She thinks that just because she’s protected by the Haney family, she can look down on the Zamora family! I will absolutely make her pay!”
Steven couldn’t help but chuckle at Sherry’s outrage. This was exactly the reaction he wanted. If the Zamora family dealt with Yanina, it would make his marriage to Christina go even smoother. Plus, thinking of how pretty Yanina was made him feel excited.
He added fuel to the fire with a smirk. “Mrs. Zamora. Yanina even said she doesn’t see the Zamora family as anything but a stepping stone. She’s only using us to get to the Haney family.”
Sherry’s chest felt like it was about to explode with anger. “This is outrageous! Carl cared about her so much, yet she betrayed him. Since Shawn wants to help her, I’ll go talk to the Haney family in Wavecrest tomorrow. I want to see if the Haney family will really go to war with the Zamora family over a woman.”
“You’re so wise, Mrs. Zamora. It’s impressive how quickly you’ve come up with a plan. I’m still young and don’t handle thing calmly enough yet,” Steven complimented.
Steven’s words lit a fire in Sherry, making her feel powerful and in control. She trusted him even more. “Since you’re young, you still have many opportunities to learn. First, find a way to get Chris out, and then we can deal with that little witch, Yanina.”
I’ll do whatever you say, Mrs. Zamora. Just let me know what you need, Steven instantly transformed into Sherry’s loyal
supporter.
The next morning, Yanina got out of bed when she heard Yetta banging on the door. “Get up, Yanina! There are reporters outside! I don’t know how they found out where we live, but they’re all here!”
