Yanina nodded and suddenly said, “After I leave, if you need anything, ask Zak. He’s pretty reliable.”
Sure,” Yetta replied, grinning. “You won’t believe it. I met this total heartthrob yesterday. He was so handsome! I ran over to ask for a selfie, but Zak pulled me back. He glared at me while I was drinking, and then he got a call and rushed off. But before he left, he found me two guys to keep me company.”
Yanina’s jaw dropped. What’s up with Zak? Doesn’t he know Yetta gets all excited when she sees a handsome guy?
“What’s Zak trying to do!” Yanina asked.
“He said if I like what I see, I should enjoy it to the max. Might as well enjoy it until I’m sick,” Yetta replied.
Yanina nodded. That was actually not a bad idea.
Just then, there was a knock at the door.
Yanina checked the time. “I’ve
got
to go. Take care of yourself.”
“Don’t worry, Quit being so motherly. Just go!” Yetta said, pushing Yanina out the door.
“I made risotto. Don’t forget to eat it. Bye!” Yanina said as she opened the door and grabbed her suitcase.
Cameron took the suitcase from her and pressed the elevator button.
The two quickly arrived at the Zamora residence.
Carl was sitting in the living room, looking lively as he awaited their return. Seeing them together made his smile even
broader.
Mr. Zamora, hello! Yanina greeted warmly, linking her arm with Carl’s “You look fantastic. It’s like you’ve aged much younger. What’s making you so happy!”
Just seeing you both makes me happy. I waited forever for you! Hurry up. Let’s get lunch ready in the kitchen. After we cat, we’re heading to the airport, Carl said with a chuckle.
John rushed to the kitchen to arrange lunch.
Meanwhile, Cameron sulked like a jealous child as he plopped down on the sofa next to Carl.
“You’d think Yania was your real granddaughter, the way you’re acting, Cameron complained.
Carl burst into laughter. “In my eyes, you’re all family.”
Carl glanced at the bracelets on Yanina’s wrist and looked back at Cameron, his gaze seemingly praising him
Well done on this one, he thought.
Sherry sauntered down from upstairs, and the sight of the happy family scene didn’t sit well with her.
Yanina’s the one who’s messed Chris up so badly. She’s still suffering with those sores in her mouth, barely able to sleep at
night. And here they are laughing. Why should they be so happy she grumbled internally.
But no matter how annoyed she felt, she forced a smile at Cameron. “You’re back?”
Jeremiah said, “You’re back”

“Hi, Mom.” Cameron greeted her.
Yanina merely responded with a cold, “Hello, Mrs. Zamora.”
“It’s strange how Yani has become so distant with me.” Sherry’s tone dripped with sarcasm, which dampened Carl’s cheer. “What does it matter? Have you been good to her? As an elder, you should act like one and not nitpick at the younger generation. Christina scolded.
“Mr. Zamora, does that mean I don’t have to greet you anymore?” Sherry retorted, feeling defiant.
Sherry always felt Carl favored Yanina.
No matter the situation, Carl would always stand by her side without hesitation.
“Suit yourself, I don’t care. Carl shrugged.
“Mr. Zamora, do you have any idea how badly Chris’s mouth is ulcerated? It breaks my heart. But look at Cameron and Yanina. Not a single one of them cares about her. It makes me feel terrible. Sherry complained.
Carl merely scoffed. “Are Cameron and Yanina doctors? She spends her days doing nothing and has such a nasty attitude. All she does is clash with Cameron or slander Yanina. She’s the one pushing people away and then wonders why no one gets close to her. Sherry, while you’re back, just take care of Chris. Everything else is none of your business.
Sherry stood there, speechless, her chest heaving in anger. Clearly, she was not willing to back down.
But she didn’t dare to confront Carl
“Mr. Zamora, if that’s the case, I’ll go take care of Chris. I won’t keep you two any longer,” she said, turning away in a huff. Carl shook his head at her retreating figure and then patted Yanina on the back. “Just ignore her. Don’t worry. If the day ever comes when I pass away, I’ll make sure to keep you far away from them, so they can’t bother you.”
Yanina fell silent.
When that time came, it would probably mean her complete break from the Zamora family.
She felt torn, wishing to leave the Zamora family as soon as possible while also hoping for Carl’s long and healthy life.
and
“Mr. Zamora, you must stay healthy and live a long time, Cameron said earnestly, gripping Carl’s hand.
“Of course! I’m still waiting for my great–grandchild. You two need to get on it. I’m really looking forward to it.” Carl laughed.
Cameron knew Yanina didn’t want to deceive Carl, so he quickly changed the subject. “Grandpa, has Mr. Miller finalized our itinerary for this trip?”
“Yep, all set. Just follow my lead, and you’ll be fine, Carl replied,
“Mr. Zamora, can I check with Mr. Miller about our itinerary later?” Yanina asked.
She had a daunting task ahead on the trip to Wanona, finding the diary with the prescription notes at her home.
“Sure thing. Once we’re on the plane, I’ll have John make sure you get a good look at it. I even set aside two days for us to visit Barcombe. We used to go there a lot when we were younger Carl nodded.
“Okay, Mr. Zamora, Yanina responded with a smile.
Just then, her phone rang. It was Shawn.

“Mr. Zamora, I need to take this call,” she said.
Carl nodded.
Yanina stepped out of the living room and went to a chair under the eaves outside to answer the call.

“Yanina. I’m about to be discharged. Could you make me risotto one more time before I leave? Last time, my mom. interrupted me halfway through, and I didn’t get enough, Shawn complained.
“I’m afraid there won’t be a chance for that this time,” Yanina said with a helpless smile. Tm heading out today and won’t be back for about a week.
“Oh, that’s such a shame” Shawn sighed heavily, his voice tinged with disappointment.
Yanina understood he was putting on an act, so she didn’t comfort him. Instead, she continued, “You called me just to ask for risotto? It can’t be that simple, can it?”
There’s something else I wanted to tell you.” Shawn said, dropping the cheerful tone and suddenly sounding serious. “T knew you were in a car accident yesterday.”
