Chapter 6
Susie May woke up in the hospital, alone.
Her burns hurt, and she started to cry.
Then the door opened. She dropped the glass.
It was the maid.
Susie May
<
“Can’t you see I need water? Go get it for
me!”
The maid was angry and poured the water on
Susie May’s head.
“I hate you! You’re a Smith! Not a Sullivan!”
“You think you’re a Sullivan now? Ashley’s
dead. Don’t think you can take her place!”
Susie May was wet. The wounds hurt more.
She saw Sean and my parents.
She started to cry.
“Sorry. It’s all my fault. I didn’t mean to.”
“I didn’t think my sister would jump in for me.
I wish I was the one that died!”
Susie May didn’t expect my parents to glance
at the maid.
“You have no manners! She was here before
you were born!”
“Don’t think I didn’t see you throw the vase.
Pouring water on you is not a big deal!”
Susie May couldn’t believe what she heard.
She looked at the two men.
“Alright, enough.”
My dad said.
Г
Susie May felt a little better, then she heard
Sean’s cold voice.
“If it wasn’t for her, Ashley wouldn’t be dead.
We already paid the Smiths.”
“Ashley doesn’t want her kidney inside of you.
We contacted someone else.”
“Get ready for surgery.”
A bunch of doctors came in.
Susie May was scared.
She pulled the IV out of her arm and tried to
run.
But Pete grabbed her.
“Scared?”
“That’s how Ashley must’ve felt.”
Now Susie May was alone.
“You…you can’t do this to me.”
“You said you would always care about me.
You would treat me like a sister.”
“Ashley didn’t die because of me. It was you! I
didn’t do anything! I didn’t say anything! I
didn’t even want to get sick!”
“Weren’t you happy when you were around
me!”
The guards held her.
Г
Her screams echoed through the room.
“It’s all our fault! I’m the one that did it! How
could I kill my own daughter for someone I
don’t even know!”
“What am I doing! What am I doing!”
Susie May started laughing.
“You deserve it! This is your revenge!”
Then, Susie May couldn’t talk anymore.
Pete put the needle in her neck, like he did to
- me.
