Chapter 8
“Why did you lock me here, you said you love
me more and would always be good to me?”
Susie May was crying. Jeremiah froze.
“Smith…”
Г
“You should die.”
I shouted.
Jeremiah pulled Susie May’s hair and
slammed her head on the ground.
“Give me back Smith!”
“Where did you put Smith! Why are you in
Smith’s body!”
“Give her back!”
Susie May’s face was covered in blood, and
she had to live through it.
“Please, I beg you. It’s not my fault, I didn’t
want it.”
L
“I was dying and the system sent me here. I
don’t know who Smith is.”
“The system said if I finished, I could go
home and get a healthy body.”
“Please, leave me alone, it’s not my fault that
Smith disappeared.”
Jeremiah was silent.
I realized she was telling the truth.
If she had chosen to go back, maybe the real
owner of the body would’ve returned.
“Call your system back here.”
Jeremiah pulled out a gun and put it to her
head.
She peed her pants.
“I…can’t…do…it, it…won’t…come.”
“Please, let…me…go.”
She looked hopeful.
“Maybe…maybe she’s in my world, living a
good life with my body!”
“Weren’t you dying, so the system sent you
here to begin with?”
I asked.
Susie May stared at me.
Г
Before she could say anything, he shot her in
the head.
Jeremiah told me that the real Susie May
wasn’t here.
He wanted Smith to take Susie May’s place.
“I didn’t want her to take your place. I didn’t
think…all this would happen.”
“I’m sorry.”
