Chapter 4
Orlando stared intently at my face for a long time before finally gritting his teeth and pointing at me with hatred.
“Officer, it’s her! Our company employees have gathered sufficient evidence that Lilith is the arsonist! Please arrest her immediately and take her to the proper authorities. According to the law, she should be sentenced and imprisoned!”
The police officers working the case were shocked when they saw my half–dead appearance.
“You’re saying she started the fire? Look at her–she’s barely alive!”
Orlando immediately retorted, “That’s what she deserves!”
The police officer quickly called to the doctors and nurses behind him, “Hurry! We have a severely injured victim here. Get her into the ambulance. We’ll lead the way with our patrol car and rush her to the hospital!”
Stella, who stood beside me and had recovered somewhat, encouraged me, “Hang in there, Lilith. You’ll get better soon!”
However, unexpectedly, Orlando spread his arms and blocked the police officers.
“Didn’t you hear me? I said she’s the arsonist. She burned my

company to the ground, and even her worthless life isn’t enough to compensate for it! Yet you’re clearing the way to send her to
the hospital? Is this how you waste laxpayers‘ money?”
The police were equally shocked by Orlando’s words.
The captain frowned and questioned him, “What’s your relationship with this injured woman? What grudge do you have against her? From what I can see, she doesn’t look like an arsonist, but you look like someone determined to kill her!”
Orlando was about to say something more but was immediately restrained by the police.
With a serious expression, the captain said to Orlando, “Even if she did start the fire, the law will punish her. By obstructing our work like this, you might end up in jail before she does!”
After the police controlled the situation, the female doctor and nurses quickly placed me on a stretcher in the ambulance.
Only when the ambulance doors closed firmly and various medical devices were attached to my body did my anxious heart finally settle.
I underwent emergency treatment for dozens of hours at the hospital.
When I opened my eyes, I saw Stella keeping vigil at my bedside.
With a choked voice, she said to me, “Lilith, the doctor said you lost the baby… and that in the future, you might…”

Before she could finish, I already understood completely.
Lying in the hospital bed, I turned my head away as tears hamediately soaked my face.
This fire not only took my child’s life but also robbed me of my ability to bear children.
I would never become a mother in this lifetime.
However, just as grief enveloped me, Orlando kicked open my hospital room door, rushed in, and grabbed me by the collar.
“Lilith, I never imagined you’d be so cunning, getting Isabella taken to the Police Department! Tell me! What trick did you use? You started the fire, so why is Isabella suffering for it?”
Stella tried to stop him, saying, “Mr. Parker, please calm down! Lilith just had surgery and hasn’t had time to plot anything. This must be a misunderstanding!”
Orlando shouted “What misunderstanding?!” while swinging his arm and knocking Stella to the floor.
With bloodshot eyes, he said through gritted teeth, “I know you’re in cahoots with Lilith. This is between us–you have no right to interfere!”
Stella scrambled away on all fours. Seeing this, Orlando sneered, “Look at that, Lilith. This is your so–called popularity. When it really matters, no one stands up for you.”

His face instantly darkened as his right hand tightened around my throat.
i don’t care what methods you use. I order you to get the police to release her immediately! Stop pretending to be a patient. For every day Isabella remains in custody, you’ll spend a day kneeling outside the police station!”
Looking at this vicious man before me, I could hardly believe he was the lover I had cherished for years.
As Orlando choked me to the point of suffocation, Stella rushed in with a group of nurses at the critical moment.
Perhaps seeing Orlando’s frenzied actions, they pulled him away together.
The head nurse slapped Orlando across the face and shouted angrily, “What kind of lunatic are you to treat my patient this way! Do you know what she’s been through? She barely escaped a fire with her lungs and throat nearly destroyed, and she lost her unborn child! She survived against all odds, and I absolutely will not allow you to harm her like this!”
