When Orlando heard the word “miscarriage,” he showed no sympathy whatsoever. Instead, he glared at me viciously.

“Well, well, Lilith! You’ve been sneaking around with other men behind my back! You worthless woman! I should never have listened to my mother and married you! If it weren’t for you, my mother would still be alive! You betrayed me and got pregnant with someone else’s child. How could you do this to me? To my mother who always defended you?”
As Orlando roared like a wild beast, I wanted to defend myself.
Especially when he mentioned his mother.
However, as soon as I opened my mouth to speak, I began coughing violently.
My throat had been damaged by the toxic smoke, and bright red fingerprints marked my neck.
I leaned against the bed, coughing so severely I felt like my lungs might come out. Everyone in the room looked at me
with concern and worry–everyone except Orlando, whose face remained cold and mocking.
“Keep pretending. I want to see how long you can keep up
this
act.”

The head nurse couldn’t stand it anymore. She grabbed my medical reports and shoved them into Orlando’s arms.

Cook carefully! Read these examination and medication Lecords. She’s seriously ill, and you’re still spouting nonsense!”
“You doubt the child was yours, right? Fine. The miscarried fetus hasn’t been disposed of yet. I’ll arrange a paternity test right now to see if the child was actually yours!”
The nurse’s decisive words left Orlando staring in shock.
He looked at me, then at everyone else in the room, and asked in a hoarse voice, “Was the child… really mine?”
Stella, feeling indignant on my behalf, told him with tears in her voice, “Of course it was yours! Lilith only ever goes to work or comes home. We’ve never seen her with any other man. You’ve been married for years–you know her character better than
anyone!”
A mocking smile appeared at the corner of Orlando’s mouth. “Character? I almost believed she had character, but if that’s your only reason, I don’t believe she has any character at all.”
Being slandered by my own husband in front of everyone was agonizing. With no tears left to cry, I could only bite my lip until it bled.
Just then, several police officers entered my hospital room.
The lead officer said to me, “Ms. Lilith, we received a report

accusing you of orchestrating this arson.”

Upon hearing this, Orlando immediately shouted, “See? What I tell you! Lilith has always been a bad person. She doesn’t serve any sympathy!”
My heart tightened. I knew I hadn’t set the fire, but I didn’t even have a chance to defend myself.
As I anxiously tried to get out of bed to explain, the police captain continued, “However, based on our preliminary investigation, you had neither the time nor motive to commit this crime, so you’re not currently considered a suspect.”
Hearing this, I let out a long breath, my body relaxing slightly.
Orlando immediately became flustered. “What are you saying? It wasn’t her? You must be mistaken! Why arrest innocent Isabella instead of Lilith?”
The officer pulled out an investigation report and said, “The fire department has located the source of the fire. It started in your company’s secretarial office and spread to the warehouse, causing the major fire. Mr. Parker, who was in the secretarial office at the time of the incident?”
Orlando carefully read the report, then fell silent.
Finally, under the officer’s intense gaze, he answered quietly, “Our company’s secretarial office… has always been occupied by Isabella alone.”

The officer nodded. “That matches our investigation findings. That’s why we’re taking Isabella in. If you have further concerns, you should hire a lawyer for Isabella instead of causing a scene

Still concerned, the captain pushed Orlando toward the door.
The captain asked in confusion, “Aren’t you and Lilith husband and wife? What deep grudge is between you two? Do you realize you nearly caused a death just now?”
Orlando snorted coldly and turned to look at me.
“Lilith, do you have the nerve to answer the officer’s question?”
Seeing that I remained silent, Orlando said through gritted teeth, “Years ago, this worthless woman got jealous and complained to my mother, which caused my mother to go out and get into a car accident that killed her.”
“Lilith, for what you did back then, even if you paid with your life, you’d be getting off easy!”
