Chapter 10
If this had all happened a few months ago, I would’ve felt like the luckiest woman alive. But after witnessing so many of Edward’s revolting antics, now I just feel sick to my stomach.N
I fought like hell to break free from Edward’s hold, and in a fit of rage, I hurled the books and the water cup in my hand straight at his head. The cup shattered on impact, and blood trickled down through his hair. Edward just stood there, letting me unleash my fury.”
“Edward, your pathetic acts don’t work on me anymore. The hatred between us is something I’ll carry forever, I won’t live with you. Ever. Just get out of my sight. The law will handle you for what you’ve done. Just do me a favor and stop showing up to make me sick.“}
With that, I dialed the police and walked away. As I stepped outside, I took a deep breath and looked up at the sky. Oddly enough, I felt grateful to Edward today. If it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t have found the courage to face my past so soon. I’ve decided to take a few days off school and make sure the Reyes family pays for their crimes.
Garrett heard about my plan and took time off with me, claiming he wanted to explore the beautiful landscapes. But during our stay, he was more like my sidekick, tagging along as we visited the prosecutor’s offices, courts, and police stations. While we were having pasta outside our old school, I joked with him, “Garrett, if you’re going to say you came back for the beautiful landscapes, remember, the prosecutor’s office, court, and police station aren’t exactly tourist spots.“}]
Garrett just chuckled, shoveling more pasta into his mouth. With my airtight evidence, everything moved along smoothly. Three months later, Judy, Edward, and Charlie were charged with intentional harm by the DA. When I met the people who nearly destroyed my life again in court, all my hatred surprisingly vanished. I trust the law to handle their wrongdoings, and it’s time for me to move on with my life. On the flight back to X Country, Garrett turned to me and said, “Isabella, did you know I’m actually childfree, and my parents are totally cool with it?”
I pulled the blanket over my knees, smiling as I shook my head. “Garrett, I’m not sure what you’re getting at, but being childfree sounds pretty great.“&
