Chapter 8
Jackson’s mind was no longer on work; it was solely focused on me.
He showed up frequently outside the Aniston Manor and at my press
events.
My design piece was featured in an auction abroad, and an anonymous buyer from back home had purchased it.
I couldn’t help but wonder who it could be.
The buyer requested a meeting, but I never imagined it would be Jackson himself.
He arrived with Barry, who darted toward me, exclaiming, “Mommy!”
I instinctively kicked him away, signaling. “Don’t call me that!”
Barry fell to the ground, tears streaming down his face. “I didn’t know you faced such danger when you gave birth to me, Mommy! I’m sorry! I really am!”
I asked, “What if I were just an ordinary person now?”
Indeed, if I were just an ordinary person, would his tears still be genuine? I stood before him, radiant and glamorous, my skin smooth and my curves accentuated, adorned in designer labels.
Chapter 8
I couldn’t help it–Morton had left me with more money than I could ever spend.
I handed Jackson an investigation report that Justin had given me regarding the contract fraud case from years ago.
I knew that once he read it, everything would click into place.
Three days later, Jackson called to tell me that our son was missing.
“Why are you looking for me instead of searching for Barry?” I asked.
“Rebecca, he’s your son! You can’t just ignore him!” Jackson’s voice. was hollow, desperate to elicit my sympathy, but I had long since. detached myself from that child.
“He’s your son with Rebecca! You chose her to be Barry’s mother!”
“Emilia, you are Barry’s mother. We’re the real family here.”
“Who the hell do you think you are?” I shot back.
The mastermind behind the contract fraud was Rebecca’s brother, Ryan Perez. His company was in direct competition with Jackson’s, and after Jackson signed the contract, Ryan had monopolized the raw materials, preventing Jackson from making timely deliveries.
Subsequently, Ryan had incited everyone to sue Jackson for contract fraud.
Learning the truth shattered Jackson.
Rebecca had fallen for him at first sight, but since I was already in the picture, she had manipulated Ryan into orchestrating a scheme that would kill two birds with one stone.
Rebecca kidnapped Barry and told Jackson to destroy all evidence. from that time, insisting he sell his company shares to Ryan for a pittance.
But Ryan was greedy; he wanted not only Jackson’s company but also an additional 30 million.
Jackson didn’t have that kind of money anymore.
When he came to find me, blood was seeping from his car.
I was taken aback by the crimson hue in his eyes.
He opened the trunk, revealing Rebecca bound and gagged.
“Apologize!”
Jackson’s voice was harsh and urgent.
The knife in his hand was soaked in blood, and Rebecca had already been stabbed multiple times in the shoulder.
Fear rendered her speechless. “No, please! I know I was wrong!”
Chapter 8
4/4
When Jackson found Rebecca, Barry had already been taken by Ryan.
“What did you do wrong?” Jackson demanded, his voice laced with fury.
Rebecca began listing her mistakes. “I shouldn’t have let my brother set a trap. I shouldn’t have come here to replace Emilia. I shouldn’t have stolen her design drafts. I shouldn’t have let Barry call me ‘Mom.‘ I shouldn’t have…”
But as she recounted her transgressions, Jackson’s knife fell once more, plunging into her shoulder.
At that moment, Jackson still refused to take responsibility for his actions.
With one swift motion, Rebecca lunged at him, and in a panic, Jackson drove the blade into her abdomen.
Rebecca looked at him with hollow, desperate eyes. “The worst mistake I made was falling in love with you.”
