Chapter 12 Taking Her Place
Abigail finally pushed her suitcase into the guest room.

She slid it into the corner, then just as she was about to grab her sleepwear and head for a shower, her phone rang.
It was her assistant, Olivia Cooper.
“Ms. Winchester, congratulations on your wedding! I hope I’m not interrupting anything?”
Olivia’s calm voice came through the phone.
She had no idea about the mess at Abigail’s wedding, so her words were sincere.
“No, it’s fine,” Abigail said, her eyes briefly darkening as she sat down on the edge of the bed. “What’s going
on?”
Olivia knew better than to disturb her unless it was something important.
“Well, I know you’ve been busy with the wedding today, so I wasn’t sure if you’d had a chance to approve it, but I just wanted to check. Did you agree to make Caroline the vice general manager?”
Abigail froze for a second, the words taking a moment to sink in. “I had no idea about that.”

Olivia’s voice immediately shifted to one of disbelief and frustration. “So it was all decided by Mr. Winchester without your input?

“I heard he called HR himself and appointed Caroline as the new vice general manager, replacing you. And on top of that, he wants to take Envision Group’s project away from me.”
She couldn’t hide her anger, feeling it was completely unfair.
Caroline had no experience, yet she was suddenly given a top position clearly just to step on Abigail and take her place.
But Abigail didn’t feel betrayed or upset.
She’d been expecting something like this for a while.
After all, James Winchester, her adoptive father, had never been fond of her.
It was clear now that he was using Envision Group’s project to help Caroline get ahead.
The project was something Abigail had put her heart and soul into, adjusting the plans over and over, and it was almost ready to be signed.
She wasn’t about to let all that hard work go to someone else.
Taking a deep breath to steady herself, Abigail replied coolly, “I’ll go to the office tomorrow. If they ask you for the project

She didn’t want to put Olivia in a difficult position, but she wasn’t going to back down on this.

Marcus drove into the most exclusive estate district in Claudia, a place where the true elite lived.
On one side of the river was the Winchester family’s neighborhood, wealthy but still a step behind this level of luxury.
Over here, the real power players resided.
He parked outside a stunning white manor, and moments later, a young man in a black jacket stepped out.
With striking features, light golden hair, and an air of reckless charm, he, Anthony Harrison, looked like trouble but the kind people couldn’t help but be drawn to.
As soon as he spotted Marcus, Anthony Harrison grinned mischievously. “Back from the wedding, huh? What happened? Did they toss you out already?”
Anthony had always been able to read the room when it came to Felix’s family.
Seeing Marcus drive a modest car, he probably thought he’d been exiled by the family in Veridon. Of course, they’d have a
Chapter 12 Taking Her Place field day with that.

Marcus didn’t bite. Instead, his mood seemed unusually light as he raised an eyebrow. “How about a drink?”
Anthony blinked, momentarily thrown off, thinking Marcus was probably trying to drown his sorrows.
Before Anthony could start enjoying the spectacle, Marcus was already stepping inside the manor, grabbing a bottle of wine, and pulling two glasses from the shelf.
Anthony watched, grinning. “You look like you’ve got something to celebrate. Did they kick you out of the wedding or something?
“But seriously, who the hell is Felix anyway? He’s not even a real part of your family.
“You travel all the way here for his wedding. They don’t even bother to greet you, and then they make you feel like crap? Sounds like his family’s days are numbered. Might as well pack
it in.”
Marcus kept his expression blank, his tone calm. “I didn’t come here for the wedding. I came to steal the bride.”
Even if he did it in front of everyone, Felix’s family wouldn’t dare say a word.
Anthony blinked, then dramatically rubbed his ears. “Hold on. Hold on. Did you just say you came here to do what?”

Before Marcus could respond, Anthony burst out laughing.

“No way, you’re telling me you came all this way just to steal your nephew’s wife? Who’s gonna believe that? Someone would have to be nuts to buy that story.”
Marcus‘ answer was simple. “Felix skipped out. Now she’s my wife.”
Anthony’s mouth dropped open. “Wait, what? Your wife?”
He couldn’t hide his shock.
After all, everyone knew how Abigail had been obsessed with Felix for years.
“We just got the certificate. We’re legally married now,” Marcus said casually, almost like it was no big deal.
He slid the wine glass toward Anthony with a confident smirk.
“I’ll introduce you later,” he added, his grin only getting wider.
