Chapter 2 Don’t Turn Me Down
She dragged Wesley behind her as they raced outside, just in time to see Abigail hopping into a car, still in her wedding dress. A tall, handsome man was holding the door for her, looking like
place.

The car took off before they could catch up.
Jane was throwing a fit while Wesley just stood there looking confused.
“Hold up… wasn’t that Marcus Fitzgerald?” he whispered.
Jane stopped cold, then laughed it off. “Marcus? No way! What would someone that important be doing here? You’re seeing things!”
They had sent out many invitations, but even Marcus’s servants hadn’t bothered to show up at this wedding. No way Abigail knew their big boss.
The Winchesters lived in the fancy part of town, their two–story mansion complete with a huge driveway out front.
A plain Volkswagen pulled up to their gates, looking totally out of place in this rich neighborhood.
When Abigail got out of the car, her wedding dress got caught on the seat.
Chapter 2 Don’t Turn Me Down The train ripped with a loud tear.
She couldn’t care less. She just yanked off the rest of the annoying train, crumpled it up and threw it away. Her eyes

locked onto the villa’s front door, ice–cold determination written all over her face.
“Wand to come with you?” A deep, steady voice spoke up beh
That’s when she remembered she wasn’t alone- her new
husband was here.
She turned to look at her new husband, her tough act slipping for a second.
After a moment, she put on a fake smile and rubbed her nose. “No, I got this.”
Even though they’d just gotten married, she wasn’t ready for Marcus to meet her family.
The way she spoke made it clear she didn’t really think of him as her husband yet.
Marcus didn’t seem to mind at all. He just reached in his pocket and pulled out a card.
“Here, take this.”
He held out a dark green card.

Abigail looked up, confused. “What’s this?”

“I should wait for you here, but I got some work to handle,” he said calmly.
“When you’re done packing, head to our house. If you need anything for the house, just use this. No PIN needed.”

ay here, Marcus had told her he’d bought a place in Claudia and wanted her to move in.
Abigail, desperate to get away from the Winchesters, had said yes right away.
But she hadn’t expected him to just hand over his card like that, like she already owned the place.
Looks like her new husband was getting used to this marriage thing faster than she was.
But she didn’t want to spend his money.
All she knew about Marcus’s money was his car – an old Volkswagen worth maybe a hundred grand.
She figured he wasn’t rich and didn’t want to cost him more, especially after he bought the house.
But flat–out saying no might hurt his feelings, and she didn’t want that.

She looked at the card and pushed it back with a grin. “Hold onto it for now. We’re not even official yet. What if I just grab the cash and run?”

“You won’t,” Marcus said, looking straight at her with a raised eyebrow. “Unless you’re getting cold feet about this whole marring thing.”
Soineng in his flat tone made her stop, and she let out a small laugh.
“No, I’m in. It’s just…” She couldn’t find the right words.
Before she could finish, Marcus just slid the card back to her.
“We had the wedding, so even if we haven’t signed the papers yet, I’ve got responsibilities,” he said firmly.
“Take it. It’s not much, but it’ll help with expenses.”
“Hey, taking care of us isn’t just your job,” Abigail said, holding the card.
Marcus gave her a little smile. “Then take it as my way making my wife happy. Don’t turn me down.”

He wasn’t backing down, and Abigail knew turning him down would look bad.
She sighed. “Okay, okay, I’ll keep it.”
But she’d already decided she wouldn’t spend any of it.

No telling how long this marriage would last, and she didn’t want things getting messier.
Marcus looked at her like he could read her mind, but kept
quiet.

For him, her taking the card was enough for now.
As he got in and started the engine, Abigail called out without thinking, “Drive safe!”
It was just small talk, but something changed when she said it. For a moment, they felt like a real couple.
Marcus smiled a bit.
“Will do.”
She watched him drive away before facing the house.
When she got to the door, her stomach was in knots. Her parents‘ harsh words kept playing in her head as she tried to pull herself together.
The moment she touched the handle, something felt off.
She walked in through the door she knew so well, past all the flowers in the hallway, heading toward the living room through the garden path.

“Felix…”
She heard someone whisper from behind the flowers, making her stop mid–step.
Before the knew it, she was following the voice, then froze.
Her heart stopped, and she felt like someone had dumped a bucket of ice water over her.
