Abigail had had enough of Felix’s fake, self–important attitude.
“Felix, do you really think I can’t live without you?
“You were the one who chased me, saying you couldn’t live without me. You begged me for the wedding, and in the end, you’re the one who left me at the altar for someone else.”
Abigail was never one to dwell on the past.
She believed that it should stay in the past once something was
over.
There was no point in arguing over who was right or wrong
anymore.
But right now, she couldn’t take it anymore. Her lone grew more sarcastic. “If you think I embarrassed the Fitzgerald family, did you ever stop to think about how I felt when you left me alone at the wedding?”
A flicker of guilt crossed Felix’s eyes. He spoke softly, trying to explain, “I’ve already said this, it was an emergency at the time…”
“An emergency? How many times have you used that excuse?” Abigail retorted with a cold smile.

“Do you want me to count how many times you’ve abandoned me for Caroline over the years?”

Memories flooded back, and Felix’s face stiffened. He mumbled, unable to say anything in response.
Abigail looked at him directly, her gaze calm and voice indifferent. “Felix, why did you think I would always wait around for you?”
She had once given him her heart, only to have it shattered.
Now, she just wanted to part ways peacefully and never be bothered again.
“Felix, I didn’t marry to get back at you!”
Abigail said, her expression serious, “You should know me better than that. I’m not someone who acts recklessly. I rushed into this marriage because I finally realized that to you, the reputation of the Fitzgerald family means more than I ever did, more than Caroline.
“I don’t want to keep forcing myself to chase after a man whose heart is elsewhere. I don’t want a love that’s mixed with uncertainty and lies.”
Felix obviously didn’t agree, and even though he felt guilty, he stubbornly tried to explain, “Abigail, my feelings for you are real…”
But Abigail interrupted, not giving him a chance to speak, “I

Felix was speechless.
He didn’t know how to respond.
Abigail smiled, looking completely at ease, and said calmly, “From now on, I just want to love myself. I hope you do the
same.”
At her words, Felix’s expression darkened.
His whole demeanor turned menacing, his voice cold and sharp. “So your idea of loving yourself is just marrying some random guy, huh?”
Mentioning Marcus made Abigail’s demeanor shift entirely.
Her eyes softened, and a proud smile appeared on her lips. She said, “My husband is a great man. We may not have known each other long, but he would never make me wait for him alone. He would never leave me. Marrying him was impulsive, but I don’t regret it.”
Seeing the radiant smile on her face, Felix felt a wave of panic rise in him.

He could feel Abigail slipping farther and farther away.

The overwhelming fear felt like a tidal wave, drowning him, and he shivered.
The once proud nobleman looked down almost in desperation, asking.
“Abigail, what do I have to do to make you forgive me?”
He stepped closer, trying to grab her shoulders, but when she avoided him, he could only stare at her, saying, “I promise I won’t see Caroline again. I’ll be good to you, only you. We can have another grand wedding to make up for the one you missed. Will you come back to me?”
If she had just come back, he could have overlooked the fact that she had married someone else.
“It’s too late,” Abigail said firmly, shaking her head with calm resolve. “I don’t want to have anything to do with you anymore.”
She took a step back, distancing herself from him, and then looked up at him one last time. Her eyes were cold. “My husband is waiting for me. Goodbye.”
As she turned to leave, Felix completely lost his composure.
He thought, “No, I couldn’t just let her walk away.
I wouldn’t allow it.”
