Chapter 101 The Pieces Click
1/6
Marcus and Mr. Fitzgerald seemed to have zero connection, but once Abigail accepted this wild revelation, everything started falling into place.
As she looked back, all those weird little moments suddenly made perfect sense!
Marcus was from Veridon, and Anthony’s whole vibe with him went way beyond just friends, even calling him Fitz.
The puzzle pieces were all there, just waiting to be put together.
Abigail’s heart was going crazy as she made her way over to Marcus in the VIP section, each step feeling like it was in slow
motion.
He met her halfway, taking her hand in his. The moment he felt how cold her palm was, concern flickered across his face. “Hey, you look really pale. If you’re not up for this, we can totally bail.”
Abigail didn’t say a word. She just stared at him.
Maybe it was how eerily calm she seemed, or maybe it was those soft, clear eyes of hers that seemed to see right through to his soul. Either way, Marcus‘ heart did a weird little flip. Something fell off.
“What’s wrong?” he asked, his voice coming out shakier than

Was she freaking out because Anthony mentioned Mr.

Fitzgerald’s interest in her? If Marcus had known she’d be this spooked, maybe he shouldn’t have tried to back her up this way.
After a moment of silence, Abigail managed to force a smile. “It’s nothing,” she said softly. “Let’s head upstairs.”
Maybe she’d read too much into things. Marcus was such a good guy. Abigail believed that he wouldn’t lie to her.
Even though Marcus could tell something was definitely up with Abigail, he didn’t want to push it. If she wasn’t ready to talk, he’d respect that. He just walked with her up to their floor.
As their figures disappeared up the stairs, the crowd below. practically buzzed with barely contained excitement. They couldn’t just sit there anymore–not with what they knew.
Everyone knew Mr. Fitzgerald was totally out of their league.
And now, that absolute legend was right upstairs, while they– who’d specifically shown up hoping to meet him–weren’t even allowed up there.
The only ones getting this VIP treatment were Abigail and her eye–candy husband of all people.
If they managed to catch Mr. Fitzgerald’s attention, maybe get some guidance or a leg up, their future would be brighter than a
supernova.

“You gotta give it to Abigail–getting noticed by Mr. Fitzgerald without even meeting him? Girl’s got game,” a woman without even meeting him? Git
remarked.
“Talk about being born under a lucky star. First, she was killing it with the Winchester family; now, she’s crushing it solo. Some people just have it all.”
“My dad kept telling me to learn from her after graduation. ‘At least pick up some real skills if you can’t shoot the company to the moon,‘ he said. But did I listen? Nope. Major regret right there.”
“Oh, please. She’s got actual brains. You could copy her moves all day and still not come close to what she’s got going on.”
Growing up in the same elite circles, these socialites might’ve thrown shade at Abigail, but they couldn’t deny her hustle.
After all, since day one, none of them had ever managed to one–up her at anything.
Caroline felt like she was gonna be sick, listening to everyone singing Abigail’s praises. “This isn’t how it was supposed to go down,” she thought.
In her head, this fancy party was supposed to be her moment- all these trust fund babies crowding around her, joining in on the Abigail hate train!
How did everything flip on its head like this?

Caroline was grinding her teeth, ready to spill more lea about Abigail, when someone’s shocked gasp cut through the chatter.
“OMG, you
guys need to see what’s trending on Twitter. Holy crap, my eyes!”
One of the rich girls whipped out her phone, sharing whatever video had her shocked with the group.
Seconds later, everyone who’d seen it was giving Caroline these looks like she was something gross they’d scraped off their designer shoes.
Caroline’s heart dropped into her stomach. Something was seriously wrong. Why were they all staring at her like that?
“That’s definitely Caroline in the video…” a girl murmured.
“Yeah, that’s her. Oh my gosh, it’s so gross. How could anyone do something like that?”
“What is going on? Why does everyone look like they have seen a ghost?” Caroline thought frantically.
She had a really bad feeling about this, but she kept that fake smile plastered on her face anyway. “What video? What are you guys watching?”
Caroline headed over to Danna, who she usually hung out with, trying to get a peek at her phone.

But Danna took a quick step back, throwing her hands up like she was warding off something nasty. “Stay away from me. You’re disgusting!“.
Now Caroline was actually getting mad. Her smile dropped as she snapped, “What’s your problem, Danna? Why would you say something like that to me?”
They were supposed to be friends.
Danna let out a mocking laugh. “That’s rich. You do something that trashy, and now you’re worried about people talking?”
“What did I even do?” Caroline played innocent, her voice going all high and hurt.
“Oh, spare me the act. You’re so fake it hurts.” Danna rolled her eyes hard enough to see the back of her head.
“So Caroline, how does it feel stealing someone else’s boyfriend? Sounds like you were having a real good time from what I heard!”
The crowd around them burst into mean giggles.
“Like, who’d even want to be friends with someone like that anymore? It’s so gross. Gosh, I literally feel sick just looking at her.”
“Man, Abigail’s got the worst luck, getting mixed up with someone like that.”
Chapter 101 The Pieces Click
Caroline felt her stomach drop as she listened to the brutal takedown happening around her.
Hands shaking, she pulled out her phone to check out the trending topic everyone was talking about.
As soon as she saw it, her legs turned to jelly. She collapsed back into her chair, completely shell–shocked.
Only one thought echoed through her mind. “Shit, I’m
screwed…”
