Chapter 115 Annoying Grandma
Abigail had a restful night at Yannis‘ house. By the time she woke up, it was already past nine in the morning.
She texted Olivia, asking her to inform the company she’d be taking one day off, then stretched lazily before sitting up.
Pulling back the curtains, Abigail was greeted by bright sunshine streaming in.
What a beautiful day.
She was in a good mood.
After freshening up, she stepped out of her room just in time to see Adela setting breakfast on the table. “Ah, you’re awake!”
Adela beamed as soon as she saw her. “Come to have some breakfast. Did you sleep well last night?”
“I slept great,” Abigail replied sweetly.
William had already left, leaving only Abigail, Troy, and Adela to enjoy breakfast together.
Eddie was skipping breakfast to avoid her. Abigail decided to make the first move. She picked up a plate, placed two pieces. of bread on it, and asked, “Eddie didn’t eat anything last night. Should I bring him some food?”

Adela waved her off. “No need. Sit down and enjoy your meal. Eddie isn’t even home.”
Abigail thought, “Not home? Did he leave so early just to avoid
me?”
Sensing her confusion, Troy jumped in to explain, “Sis, please don’t overthink it. Eddie left early to make deliveries. He’s not avoiding you.”
Adela realized her earlier words might have been misleading and quickly added, “Exactly! My bad for not clarifying. Eddie’s work schedule is 24/7. When clients need their orders, he has to deliver them as soon as possible.
“Sometimes, he even goes out in the middle of the night.”
Hearing that Eddie was not intentionally avoiding her, Abigail felt a wave of relief. She sat down and asked curiously, “Deliveries? What kind of deliveries?”
Troy told her. “He makes and sells handcrafted decorations and art pieces.
“At first, he was just making small trinkets to sell at street stalls. But then, a shopkeeper noticed his talent and started commissioning larger, custom–made pieces. As word got out, Eddie’s reputation grew, and so did his business.”
Abigail couldn’t hide her surprise. “Eddie can do exquisite handiwork?”

“Eddie has always been skilled,” Troy said proudly.

“When we were kids, if the furniture broke, Eddie would fix it. He only stopped after getting too busy with schoolwork.
“Then, after that car accident, Eddie changed. He became depressed and gloomy, locking himself in his room, barely speaking to anyone. He was so down all the time, we worried he might spiral into depression.
“Eddie started pulling himself together when Mom got sick. He began crafting little things at home. But even then, I was the one taking them to the market after school to sell. It wasn’t until this past year that Eddie started stepping out of our house and interacting with his clients.”
Abigail listened quietly, piecing together a clearer picture of Eddie’s life. His reserved demeanor suddenly made sense. Crafting suited him. It was quiet, solitary, and free of the kind of scheming interactions he seemed to avoid.
Her gaze wandered to a nearby wall covered in certificates and awards. Most of them were Eddie’s, and a few trophies from his middle school competitions stood on a nearby shelf.
At the bottom of the wall were some lorn certificates, but the intact ones still showcased his brilliance.
Abigail felt a pang of sadness. She thought, “If it weren’t for that car accident, Eddie should have got a bright future. The person responsible for his downfall, however, is enjoying a fresh start

Adela noticed her quiet expression and quickly changed the subject. “Let’s not dwell on the past. What’s important is that Eddie’s moving forward. That’s all that matters to us now.”
Not wanting the mood to sour, Adela turned her attention back to the breakfast spread. “You’ve barely touched your food. You don’t like it? Tell me what you’d prefer, and I’ll cook it for you or buy it for you from the market.”
They were not far from the town, and a quick bike ride there and back would only take half an hour. Abigail quickly waved her hands, not wanting to trouble them. “No, this is more than enough. I just don’t have much of an appetite in the morning.”
Today’s breakfast was indeed impressive, including baguette, pasta, orange juice, bread, and even croissants. The variety was overwhelming. Abigail hadn’t experienced this level of care at the Winchester family home.
Adela looked concerned at Abigail’s response and placed a chocolate–filled croissant on her plate. “No appetite? That won’t do. Breakfast is important. Try this. It’s filled with chocolate chips and perfect for the morning. It’ll open up your appetite.”
Unable to refuse, Abigail took a bite. The croissant was golden and buttery, with a soft sweetness that immediately lifted her spirits. Seeing her eat made Adela even happier. She started piling more food onto Abigail’s plate, and Troy eagerly followed
suit.

For the first time, Abigail felt what it was like to be genuinely cared for. She thought, “I’m like a pampered princess. I don’t have to lift a finger, just sitting down and enjoying as everyone dotes on me.
Everything felt perfect until the sharp sound of the front gate. being slammed open shattered the peaceful moment. A shrill, familiar voice followed immediately after. “Adela! Bitch! Get your lazy ass out here!”
