Chapter 43 Too Lovestruck
Within minutes, Marcus‘ friends‘ curiosity got the better of them, and they were itching to fly out to Claudia.
Marcus replied: [If you scare my wife off, you’ll have to deal with the consequences!”
At that, everyone quickly claimed they didn’t dare to come.
The thought of Marcus facing them was enough to send shivers down their spines.
They knew Marcus wouldn’t keep his wife hidden away in Claudia forever and that he would eventually bring her back to Veridon.
By then, they’d naturally have their chance to meet her.
After reading the comments, Anthony called Marcus privately. “Do you really have to be so protective of your wife? They just want to see her.”
Marcus replied in annoyance, “You don’t understand the stress. of having such an amazing and popular wife.”
Anthony fell silent, realizing just how lovestruck Marcus truly
was.
Not long after Marcus‘ soft launch, Felix’s parents caught wind

Jane poured a cup of coffee for Wesley and asked with curiosity, “What kind of girl do you think Mr. Fitzgerald married? She’s probably from a wealthy family, right? This could be a marriage alliance between two powerful families.”
The thought upset Jane, especially when she considered Abigail, the girl Felix liked. It made her angry.
Wesley, his expression serious, replied, “I just heard the news too. I don’t have any details yet.”
He hadn’t even figured out the woman’s name.
After a moment of thought, Wesley turned to Jane with a frown. “Where’s Felix? Call him back quickly; I need to talk to him.”
Jane had no idea where Felix had gone lately, as he had been out a lot.
She secretly cursed Abigail for what she believed was ruining Felix and hurried to call him.
Half an hour later, a drunken Felix stumbled home.
He clearly reeked of a mix of powder, smoke, and alcohol after leaving a nightclub.
As soon as he walked in, Felix yanked at his tie and lazily collapsed onto the couch.

“Mom, Dad, you wanted to see me?” he asked impatiently.
“Worst son ever!” Wesley scolded, frowning. “Just look at yourself!”
Jane felt distressed and quickly rushed over to say, “Come on, don’t be too hard on him. Felix has been in a bad place lately.”
While pouring Felix a glass of water, she asked if he was feeling alright.
Wesley sighed heavily. “You’re just spoiling him too much.”
Jane didn’t take it seriously.
Felix wasn’t in the mood for their reprimands. He stood up, heading back to his room. “If there’s nothing else, I’m going to bed.”
“Wait!” Wesley called out, stopping him. “Mr. Fitzgerald came to Claudia not long ago. Rumor has it he’s married. We need to find a way to send him a wedding gift. If you can get close to this big shot, our family’s status in Claudia will rise significantly…”
Before Wesley could finish, Felix cut him off. “Not going!”
Wesley was shaking with anger, “This is a good opportunity! Others would kill for a chance to get close to Mr. Fitzgerald.
“You spend your days hanging around with nobodies! I let you do whatever you want, but you need to listen to me about this.”

“If it matters so much to you, why don’t you go yourself?” Felix shot back mercilessly. “Because you know he won’t even talk to you, right?”
Wesley was immediately furious and anxiously said. “What are you talking about? We’re family! Of course, he’ll show me some respect!”
Felix’s expression darkened even more.
Although he had never met Marcus, he had heard stories about him from his parents since he was a child.
As two people of similar age in the family, he felt his parents constantly compared him to Marcus.
Over time, this bred resentment.
Now, feeling even worse because he was being pushed to please Marcus, Felix, having had a few drinks, no longer cared about politeness.
He sneered and stated bluntly, “Wake up. If he really respected you, he would have at least sent a subordinate to my wedding while he was in Claudia. He thinks we’re nothing, yet you still want to suck up to him. What about your dignity?”
Wesley and Jane’s faces turned very dark.
Wesley even raised his hand to slap Felix. “How dare you speak to me like that, you little brat!”

He felt he had to humble himself for the sake of the family, and he believed it was only natural for Felix to help him.
“Wesley, calm down!” Jane quickly intervened, urging Felix to apologize immediately.
Felix snorted coldly.
Wesley retorted with a sneer, “How dare you even mention your ridiculous wedding? Thank goodness Mr. Fitzgerald didn’t attend; otherwise, our family would be a laughingstock in Veridon. How could we ever go back and have a future there?”
When the wedding was brought up, Jane stopped defending Felix and added, “Exactly. That bitch Abigail has brought shame upon us all!”
Felix’s face darkened.
Jane, oblivious to his displeasure, continued, “I regret ever letting you marry that jinx. She’s a disgrace. Thankfully, the wedding was called off. If she wants to join our family, she’ll need to grovel for my forgiveness first!”
