Chapter 44 Felix Regretted It

As Felix looked at his condescending parents, he felt a mixture of unfamiliarity and absurdity. They seriously believed that Abigail would come to them and admit her wrongdoing.
Unable to take it anymore, Felix snapped, “Enough! Abigail will never apologize to you.”
She had made it clear that she no longer wanted to marry him.
Her son’s retort hurt Jane, and she was also furious that he continued to defend Abigail.
In her anger, she lashed out, “You’re still protecting that bitch! You’ve really been taken in by her!”
Felix lowered his gaze, a bitter laugh escaping him as he said, “I do want to protect her, but sadly, that chance is gone. She doesn’t want me anymore!”
He was the one who had been abandoned.
For a moment, it felt as if all his strength had been sapped away. His eyes dulled, and he sank into despair.
Jane, oblivious to his emotional shift, said smugly, “Wise decision on her part. After all, she’s no longer a part of the Winchester family. You’re way out of her league now. It’s best she doesn’t bother you anymore…”

“Stop!” Felix snapped, annoyance flaring up as he covered his cars with his hands. “You always pretended to support my decisions, but you were just trying to control me!”
They had always told him that Abigail was heartless, that the Winchester family was weak, and that Abigail was unworthy of him.
Those words, which he had tried to forget, now pierced his heart like a dagger.
His expression grew increasingly pained, and his voice trembled as he said, “I’ve had enough! If I hadn’t listened to you, I wouldn’t have pushed Abigail away. If it weren’t for you, we would have been married by now!”
But now, everything had turned into a mere fantasy.
Jane and Wesley stared at Felix, taken aback by his sudden. outburst, speechless.
Meanwhile, Marcus received a call from his family in Veridon.
It was his mother, Jade Snyder, who called personally,
Jade’s usually gentle voice was tinged with anxiety. “Son, what’s this about a marriage certificate you posted? Are you married? Who is this woman? Why didn’t you tell me about such an important matter?”

Abigail rolled over in bed, clutching the blanket as her thoughts. swirled.
Marcus had already soft–launched their marriage. Shouldn’t she be doing something too?
She wanted to make a similar announcement, but then she remembered she didn’t have a Finsta, and the one she used was filled with mutual friends of her and Felix.
If she announced it now, those friends would inevitably start asking all sorts of questions about Marcus‘ identity. Some might even go too far, like Danna, and misinterpret Marcus as a boy toy.
With that thought, Abigail concluded there was no need for an announcement, but she still felt a twinge of guilt.
To ease her conscience, she quickly headed to the kitchen to get a glass of milk for Marcus.
He worked so hard and often stayed up late to finish his work. As his wife, she felt it was her duty to show him some care.
The study door was slightly ajar. Abigail paused at the door, raising her hand to knock, but then she heard voices from inside. “Mom, I didn’t mean to hide the marriage from you.”
Abigail hesitated, slowly lowering her hand. She should have walked away, but for some reason, her feet felt glued to the spot, and she couldn’t help but listen in.

Marcus was unaware that Abigail was outside the door. Responding calmly to his mother’s inquiries, he said, “I rushed into marriage because of Jaxson. He’s my son, and I’ll always take responsibility for him, but I don’t take marriage lightly.”
Jade sighed, sounding unconvinced. “You got married just a few days after you went to Claudia. How can I trust you?”
Marcus remained silent.
Jade continued, “Never mind, I know you’ve always been independent and never gave us cause to worry, but you need to tell me about this girl. What’s her name? How old is she? Will she accept you having a son?”
Realizing that his mother was starting to relent, Marcus let out a sigh of relief and replied, “Her name is Abigail Winchester. She’s 22, very beautiful, and competent at work, capable of handling large projects for the Harrison family. She’s kind–hearted and has even offered to take care of Jaxson.”
Jade initially felt satisfied, but as she listened, her worry grew. “How could such a wonderful girl choose someone like you?”
Others might misunderstand Marcus, but Jade knew him well.
Despite his good looks and wealth, he was clueless when it came to romance and didn’t know how to charm a woman.
Thinking of this made Jade even more anxious. “Son, tell me the truth. You’re not forcing her into this, are you?”
