Abigail frowned. The next second, Felix’s voice followed, calm and assured. “Why make things so complicated? As long as you agree to my condition, I can arrange the best ward and doctors for them immediately.”
“What do you want me to do?” she asked coldly. She knew Felix was a businessman who never made deals without a profit, so there was no way he would help her without a price.
Felix straightened up leisurely, a smug glint in his eyes as he looked at her. “You don’t need to do much. Just agree to the divorce, and I’ll give you anything you want.” He was convinced. Abigail would agree. In his mind, her angry outburst a few days ago had been nothing more than a heat–of–the–moment reaction. Enough time had passed now for her temper to cool. He was even offering her a graceful way out–surely, she was smart enough to make the right choice.
Abigail’s expression froze, and her gaze grew colder with every second. Before she could stop herself, she snapped, “Felix, are you out of your mind?”
Felix’s eyebrows arched slightly, his smugness undisturbed. “The choice is yours. You can refuse. But the people behind you don’t seem like they have much time left, Abigail. That’s a life at stake.”

life, yet you’re using it to threaten me? Felix, you make me sick.”
Staring at Felix, she realized she didn’t recognize the man before her anymore. The man who used to blush and stammer whenever he spoke to her had completely vanished. What stood before her now was someone unrecognizably cold and despicable.
Just then, Adela’s painful coughing fit broke through the tense air. Troy and William clung to her, calling her name over and over, but there was no response.
Seeing this, even though Abigail was boiling with anger, hesitation crept into her heart. She had no love for the Yannis family, but she couldn’t just stand by and watch her biological mother die in front of her.
“Maybe I should just agree to Felix for now…” she thought, debating whether to string him along for the moment. But just as she was about to make up her mind, her phone suddenly rang. When she saw the caller ID, her tense expression instantly softened.
Then, right in front of Felix, Abigail picked up her phone and sweetly greeted, “Hi, honey.” The moment Felix heard that, his expression darkened instantly.
On the other end of the line, Marcus, however, was in an excellent mood. A subtle smile played on his lips as he spoke in his warm, gentle voice, “Almost done with work? I’m waiting just outside your office building.”

Abigail replied, “I’m at Reginald Hospital right now…”

“Hospital?” Marcus‘ tone turned serious in an instant. “Why are you at the hospital? Are you sick? I’ll come over right away.” The concern and care in his voice, even from such a distance, somehow soothed the frustration and anxiety that had been weighing on Abigail.
In a soft voice, Abigail replied, “It’s not me… It’s a friend’s family member. They’re seriously ill, but the hospital refuses to admit them. It’s a bit of a mess.” Honestly, she didn’t even know why she was telling Marcus all of this. The words had just slipped out without much thought.
Marcus didn’t hesitate. “Reginald Hospital? Don’t worry. I happen to know someone there. I’ll handle it.”
“Alright, I’ll wait for your update,” Abigail responded.
She hadn’t bothered to lower her voice while on the phone, so Felix overheard everything. He let out a disdainful snort and sneered, “Abigail, do you seriously think that pretty boy of yours can actually help you solve this problem?”
Rolling her eyes, Abigail shot back coldly, “Well, it doesn’t hurt. to try. Maybe my husband really does know someone who can help. I trust him.”
Felix felt a surge of irritation as he listened to the way Abigail’s words carried trust and defense for another man. He reflected angrily, “She used to rely on me like that. How could she give away that trust to someone else so easily?”

Watching Felix’s obvious irritation only made Abigail feel at twisted sense of satisfaction. She couldn’t help but smile, but her moment of amusement was interrupted by a smug, grating voice from behind her. “Ms. Winchester, as long as I, the deputy director, refuse to approve this admission, it won’t matter who your husband knows.”
