Chapter 61 Osborn’s Question
Once everyone else had left, Abigail finally thanked Osborn. “Osborn, I really owe you one today.”
Osborn and Abigail had both been students at Skyrocket High School, but Osborn was a year ahead of her. They didn’t really have a deep connection.
This time, Abigail had no other option but to ask Osborn for help.
Before Osborn could respond, Abigail smiled and added, “If you hadn’t come in time, the surgery would have had a lot of risks. I’ve kept you here for so long, so let me treat you to dinner.”
Hearing Abigail’s friendly address, the smile in Osborn’s eyes deepened.
“Given our relationship, you don’t need to thank me. But I’d be happy to have dinner with you. You didn’t come to my graduation party, so this time, you can’t escape.”
As he spoke, he walked closer to Abigail and naturally put his arm around her shoulder.
They had both been in the student council back in the day, and their interactions were frequent. Many people mistakenly thought they were in a relationship.
Chapter 61 Osborn’s Question
However, Abigail didn’t show up at his graduation party.
Years had passed, and Osborn didn’t want to pry into the reason, but this time, he didn’t want to let go.

Abigail skillfully avoided Osborn’s arm around her shoulder and smiled, asking, “What would you like to eat?”
His hand fell empty, and Osborn paused for a moment before quickly recovering. “To be honest, I’m not really hungry. How about I just take you home?”
Abigail was slightly taken aback.
Osborn, being considerate, added, “I can tell you don’t look well. It’s probably because you were so worried carlier. Now that her surgery is a success, you can rest easy.”
Abigail thought, “Did I show it that clearly? Will the Yannis family get suspicious?”
Osborn adjusted his glasses and curiously asked, “Can I ask what your relationship is with that patient?”
During the surgery, Osborn had noticed that Adela resembled Abigail somewhat.
Remembering the rumors he had heard recently, he couldn’t help but wonder about the relationship between Abigail and Adela.
Abigail’s expression changed, and she quickly came up with an

excuse. “She’s my relative.”
Abigail was not trying to avoid admitting that Adela was her mother, but she wasn’t sure about Adela’s thoughts on the
matter.

Osborn immediately saw through her lie, but he didn’t press the issue. Instead, he tactfully changed the subject. “I heard you and Felix ended things. I didn’t really believe it until I witnessed it myself today. Abigail, do you really have no feelings for him anymore?”
Osborn thought, “They made such a mess of things, so they surely won’t get back together, right?”
Upon hearing this, Abigail’s expression froze.
She had assumed that Osborn only cared about academic. matters, but she didn’t expect him to be interested in her personal gossip.
Moreover, this had only happened a few days ago, and Osborn had been abroad for an exchange program until recently.
Though Abigail felt a bit uncomfortable talking about personal matters, she still nodded honestly. “Yes, we’ve broken up.”
“Does that mean I have a chance now?”
Suddenly, Osborn, who had been walking ahead, stopped in his tracks and turned to look at Abigail seriously.

Under the dim streetlights, a light breeze tousled Osborn’s hair, revealing his deep, affectionate gaze.
He seemed to be joking, but his focused expression revealed his true feelings.
Abigail was stunned for a moment before breaking into a calm smile. “You know I’ve ended things with Felix, but you don’t you know I’m married?”
“You’re married?” Osborn froze. He was so surprised that his voice rose several octaves, a stark contrast to his usual composed demeanor.
“Yeah,” Abigail admitted generously.
Osborn clicked his tongue in frustration and sighed, “Looks like I was a step too late.”
Back then, he hesitated for a moment and missed the chance to spend his college years with Abigail. Now that he had returned, she had gotten married.
Seeing Osborn’s slightly downcast expression, she smiled gently.
She knew that Osborn’s words didn’t mean he liked her that much. He was simply regretful of the things he couldn’t have when he was younger.
By now, his feelings for her had long lost the pure love of youth. His gaze didn’t carry the tenderness of someone looking at a lover, and Abigail could sense that.

Osborn still couldn’t let it go and said in a teasing tone, “I’m really curious. What kind of person is worthy of you, a school beauty, to marry so suddenly? How about you introduce him to me today?”
Osborn was very curious about what kind of extraordinary man Abigail had chosen to entrust her life to.
Abigail hesitated.
She was worried Osborn might say something that would make Marcus angry, so she casually replied, “There’ll be a chance.”
Osborn didn’t press her, so he said, “Alright, but you can’t refuse to let me take you home.”
Abigail smiled and nodded.
Osborn had done so much for her, so how could she refuse him again?
In the car, Osborn took the initiative to bring up the fun moments they had shared in the student council during high school.
Talking about the past never got boring, and Abigail found herself laughing frequently.
Soon, they arrived downstairs at her apartment building.
When the car stopped, Abigail was about to unbuckle her

seatbelt, but Osborn suddenly leaned over toward her.
A faint scent of disinfectant filled the air around Abigail.

Before she could react, she saw Marcus standing under a sycamore tree, staring at her through the transparent window.
The moment she saw Marcus, Abigail suddenly remembered the intimate moment when Marcus had fastened her seatbelt last
time.
Her heart raced, and in a flurry, she pushed Osborn away and quickly unbuckled her seatbelt, jumping out of the car.
“Osborn, thank you for the ride.”
Osborn watched Abigail quickly exit the car, his hand still frozen
in mid–air.
But he quickly regained his composure, smiling faintly, “No.
need.”
Osborn thought, “Abigail really won’t give me any chances. But if she were the kind of fickle, heartless girl, I wouldn’t have been thinking about her all these years.”
Abigail, fearing Osborn might do something that would make Marcus suspicious, hurriedly said, “Osborn, thank you for your help today. You should go home and rest. Let’s arrange dinner for another day.”
Osborn had initially hoped to go to Abigail’s house for a cup of

But he knew today wasn’t the right time.
Osborn felt a bit disappointed, but he, ever courteous and respectful, didn’t want to pressure her. After exchanging a few pleasantries, he drove off.
Once the white Mercedes had driven away, Abigail let out a sigh
of relief.
Turning around, she saw the man standing under the dim streetlight.
He was wearing casual home clothes, his hands casually tucked into his pockets, and he was gazing at her from across the street.
Abigail, for some reason, felt a bit guilty.
She touched her nose and slowly walked over.
Marcus‘ gaze followed her, but he didn’t say anything. The atmosphere felt a little tense.
Osborn’s car window was one–way glass, and Abigail wasn’t sure if Marcus had seen what happened inside the car.
She wanted to explain to Marcus, but he hadn’t asked. Abigail thought, “What if he didn’t see anything? If I explain it myself, will it make me seem guilty?”
