Chapter 85 The Invitation Is Fake

Abigail shook her head and pushed the package into the house. She pulled out two invitations a moment later, handing one

to Marcus. Tomorrow is the Envision Group’s anniversary celebration. Mr. Fitzgerald, may I have the honor of inviting you to be my date?”

Abigail’s eyes sparkled with mischief, and her soft, playful tone made it impossible to refuse

Marcusheart wavered for a moment. But he sighed and said, The company has an important signing ceremony tomorrow morning, and I need to preside over it. I might not be able to accompany you to the event.”

Not even for the whole day?Abigail’s tone carried a hint of disappointment. The celebration would last all day, and she had hoped to introduce Marcus to her friends

After a brief pause, Marcus said, It’ll be done by 10:30. I can join you after that.

Abigail didn’t seem to mind and smiled, That’s fine. As long as you can make it, this invitation is yours.”

Marcus accepted the invitation and added, I’ve arranged for a stylist to come over tomorrow to help you get ready. He might have missed gifting her the gown, but he could still hire a stylist

Alright.Abigail didn’t decline. She returned to her room, took the gown out of the box, hung it up, and glanced at the clock on

the wall

It was 9:28 PM, and Abigail decided it was time for her beauty sleep. Her gaze fell on the large bed behind her. She thought, Last night, Marcus and I nearly crossed a line on that bed, and he ended up sleeping here. Tonight”

The vivid memory of those moments flashed through Abigail’s mind, making her feel hot all over. Even her ears turned red

But Abigail was slowly coming to terms with the fact that she was married now. With a deep breath, she calmed herself, then walked out of the room and asked Marcus, Do you want to shower first?”

Abigail thought she had hidden her nerves well, but her reddened ears and slightly shaky voice betrayed her

Marcus caught every detail. While Abigail’s change surprised and delighted him, he didn’t want to push her too hard. There was no need to rush. He wanted her to feel comfortable every step of the way

You go ahead,Marcus said with a gentle smile. Rest well tonight. I still have work to finish and might be up late.”

In other words, nothing was going to happen tonight

Even though Abigail thought she was prepared, she still let out a small sigh of relief at Marcuswords. Alright, but don’t stay up

Rumors spread that Marcus Fitzgerald would also attend. Just hearing his name made the media frenzy, with reporters rushing to the villa. An exclusive interview with the elusive Mr. Fitzgerald could launch their careers to new heights

Among the early arrivals was James, who came with Caroline and Natalia

Watching people being turned away for lack of invitations, James couldn’t hide his smugness. He looked at Caroline with pride, showering her with compliments. Getting an invitation to this event is no easy feat, yet you managed to get three. Now that is impressive!”

Caroline smiled awkwardly, her palms sweating with guilt. After all, her invitations weren’t earned. They were purchased. She couldn’t help worrying that someone would notice

As they moved closer, Caroline discreetly compared her invitations to the ones held by other guests. When she saw they looked similar, she breathed a sigh of relief
