Today’s party was Caroline’s first public appearance since being recognized as part of the Winchester family. She wore a limited–edition Flor gown, a golden, form–fitting mermaid dress that highlighted her curves. As she moved, the gold threads on the hem sparkled in the sunlight.
Just as Caroline hoped, she caught many admiring glances. But there were also people who looked at her in confusion, not recognizing her.
“Who is she? I’ve never seen her before, so flashy!” Rene Scott said.
Rene was the daughter of a tech CEO and thought Caroline. looked like a peacock with a dress that didn’t suit her. The expensive gown seemed off on her. But not knowing Caroline’s background, Rene kept her disdain to herself.
Danna squeezed over and nudged Rene’s shoulder. She whispered excitedly, “You don’t know her? That’s Caroline, the one who was swapped with Abigail, the real Winchester family heiress!”
Rene’s expression darkened immediately.
The Winchester family wasn’t exactly one of the top–tier families in Claudia, but they did have a daughter, Abigail, who was exceptional in every way.

Enjoying the attention, Caroline softly replied, “Actually, my parents wanted her to stay in the family, but she just looked down on me.”
Caroline didn’t want to appear as if she couldn’t accept Abigail, nor did she want the Winchester family to become a topic of gossip. So, she quickly shifted the blame to Abigail.
Rene and Danna, both no fans of Abigail, took Caroline’s words at face value without a second thought.
Danna even let out a mocking laugh, her voice dripping with disdain. “Even if she begged to stay in the Winchester family, she still couldn’t compare to you. She’s just a fake. You’ve got a grace she’ll never match!”
