I held her small hand, forcing myself to keep the tears at bay.
“Sweetheart, it’s just a superficial injury. You’re going to be fine. When you’re discharged, I’ll take you back to the Dark Moon pack, and we’ll
go see the sea with Grandma and Grandpa.”
“Will Dad come too? I miss him.”

torrential downpour. Inside, my heart felt just as stormy.
“Don’t worry, Lily. Once you’re better, Dad will definitely come with us to the sea.”

room.
Alpha Roman was sitting beside me, looking at his phone. He wore thin–framed glasses, his eyelashes lowered, his features like a beautiful
portrait.

so deeply. I had insisted on marrying him, and through my efforts, I had forged the alliance between the Dark Moon pack and the Crescent Moon pack.
“What happened to Lily? How is she?”
Roman nervously rubbed his hands together, unable to look me in the eye.

“Condolences? How dare you offer me condolences?! Alpha Roman, you and Londyn teamed up to kill Lily. You cremated her without letting me say my final goodbye. You have such a wicked heart! I will settle this with you, mark my words!”
Alpha Roman pretended to wipe away a few tears, as if he were truly grieving Lily’s death.
“You’re not in a condition to be so emotional! You’re pregnant again, almost four months along! Out with the old, in with the new. Try to

In a fit of rage, I threw myself out of bed, the needle cutting into my skin, and blood splattered onto the pristine white tiles.

“Has Londyn taken your heart? Did I fail to apologize? Your heart must be made of iron -your own daughter is dead, and you’re defending someone else’s son!”
