Chapter 12
Samuel, likely worried I was setting a trap, scrutinized every word, reading through it slowly and carefully. Once he was sure it was the settlement I had prepared, he signed both the property transfer agreement and the notarized documents.
After pressing his fingerprint down, Samuel looked up at me, his eyes full of eager anticipation.
“Cass, once you‘ re out, give the settlement to the police right away. Try to get me released as soon as possible—this place is no place for anyone to stay.”
I packed the documents into my bag, then casually looked up at him.
“I’ll pass it along to the police, but as for your release… that’s not for me to decide.”
Samuel‘ s expression shifted instantly and
he slammed his hand down on the table.
“What do you mean? You‘ ve already signed the settlement!”
I innocently nodded. “Yes, I did.”

I then feigned surprise as I turned to look at Samuel.
“You didn’t know, did you? Your case has already been automatically transferred to criminal prosecution. No matter how many settlement agreements I sign, it‘ s useless.”
I let my expression harden, then leaned in close to his ear, speaking softly.
“Oh, and I forgot to mention, the theft amount exceeds five hundred thousand.
That means a life sentence, you know?”
I patted him on the shoulder.
“I wish you a smooth life in prison for the rest of your days.”
With that, I turned and walked away, ignoring the mix of fear and rage in Samuel’s eyes.
As I reached the door, I suddenly turned back to face Samuel, now on the brink of losing control.
“One more thing I forgot to mention- Starla’s baby? It’s not yours. It belongs to a real estate mogul. Besides you, she’s been with several other men.”

As soon as I finished speaking, Samuel stood up, his hands still cuffed. He grabbed the chair and hurled it toward me.
“You bitch, I’ll kill you!”
Before the chair could even hit me, the police had already restrained him.
This time, the settlement was useless.
With Samuel arrested, Starla lost her support. She came to cause trouble a few times, but the security guards kept her out of the complex.
After taking a few days to rest, I called a moving company and had them head to Starla’s neighborhood.
Once inside, I headed straight for her
apartment.
When the doorbell rang, it was clear she
hadn’t woken up yet–her dark circles under her eyes were so heavy they looked like they were about to fall off.
Seeing me with a group of movers,
Starla‘ s expression immediately shifted to one of suspicion.
“What do you want, Cassey?”
I ignored her and waved for the workers to start moving the furniture.
“Take all the furniture out and change the
locks for me.”
Starla blocked the doorway.
“You‘ re not coming in! This is my house, Cassey. You‘ re trespassing.”
I raised the property deed in my hand.
“Look carefully. It’s my name written on this.”
“That doesn’t matter! You‘ re still not taking anything! I still live here, this is my home and you‘ re violating my rights!”
Starla tried to argue, attempting to use the law against me.
I gave her a mocking smile.
“Have you paid rent? Or did we sign a
contract?”
Starla‘ s expression faltered for a moment.
“You… you’re the one who let me stay here!”
I looked at her, letting out a cold snort.
“I pitied you and took you in. Now, I don’t want you here anymore. You‘ re the one trespassing and I can take this to court and sue you for the rent you owe for all this time.”
Seeing that she had no way out, Starla suddenly clutched her stomach and started to scream in pain. Then, as if on cue, she tried to collapse to the floor.
