“What? If the baby in Starla’s belly isn’t Samuel‘ s, are you planning to forgive him?” Tonny asked.
I pointed to my head.
“Do you think there’s something wrong. with my brain?”
At my response, Tonny seemed to let out a sigh of relief.
“Give me some time.”
I nodded, finished the last sip of my coffee and stood up to leave.
Today was Starla‘ s birthday and she had invited both Samuel and me.
I bought a bouquet of white lilies on the way and headed over to her place.
Sitting in the taxi, I opened the surveillance footage from Starla‘ s house.

I watched as Samuel sneaked in through the door. The moment he stepped inside, Starla rushed over and tightly embraced. him, catching Samuel off guard.
“What are you doing? Cassey will be here any minute, I have to go wait for her at the entrance. She’s already unhappy about how close we‘ ve become. If she finds out now, everything will be ruined,” Samuel said anxiously.
But Starla seemed unconcerned.
“Why are you in such a hurry? She’s too dumb to figure anything out. If she were really that smart, she wouldn’t have waited until I‘ m eight months pregnant to notice anything,” Starla said, her hand slowly reaching for Samuel.
Samuel quickly grabbed her wrist.
“You‘ re in your third trimester now.
There’s a risk you could go into labor at any moment. We should be more careful,” he said, his voice tense.

But Starla ignored his concerns entirely.
“Who was it that said pregnancy made me more attractive?” Starla said with a flirtatious smile. “Anyway, Cassey hasn’t arrived yet, so what’s the harm in having a little fun? Don’t you think it’s even more exciting this way?”
Her voice dripped with seduction and it was clear that Samuel was struggling to hold back.
I calmly pulled out my phone and sent Samuel a message.
[Stuck in traffic. It’ll be another half hour before I get there.]
In the video, Samuel visibly relaxed when he saw the message. He then wrapped his arm around Starla‘ s waist and the two of
them staggered off toward the bedroom.
I slowly closed the video, a sarcastic smile curling on my lips.
Giving him half an hour was already

showing him too much mercy.
True to form, it wasn’t even fifteen
minutes before Starla stormed out of the room, looking unsatisfied, muttering curses under her breath.
By the time I reached the community, Samuel was already waiting for me at the
entrance.

As soon as he saw me, he eagerly grabbed the bag from my hand.
“Tired?” he asked.
I didn’t even look at him. All I could sense was an unpleasant, repulsive aura coming from him.
I quickened my pace and Samuel, unfazed, followed behind me, grinning like a
sycophant.
“See how well I’ve behaved today? I know you don’t like how close I’ve gotten to Starla, so I waited by the entrance just to walk in with you,” he said, trying to

sound sincere.
But all I could picture was the image from the video–the two of them tangled together like snakes—and the bile in my stomach surged, making me feel nauseous. I hadn’t even stepped inside yet when I threw up.
As soon as we stepped into Starla’s apartment, Samuel rushed to the kitchen to pour me some water, moving around as comfortably as if it were his own home.
I didn’t call him out. Instead, I took the water he offered and drank it in one go, then gave Starla an apologetic look.
“Sorry, my stomach‘ s been bothering me lately.”
Starla shot a cautious glance at my belly.
“You‘ re not pregnant too, are you?” she asked, suspicion lacing her tone.
I didn’t answer her. Instead, I turned my
head toward Samuel.

“Now that you mention it, my period has been late by more than ten days.”
As soon as I said that, panic flashed across both Samuel and Starla‘ s faces. Starla, in particular, visibly stiffened, her anger practically radiating from her.
