My boyfriend broke my hand to help Qingmei win the championship
Chapter 1
My boyfriend locked me on the roof the night
before the finals. He wanted his childhood
friend to win the piano competition.
He looked right at me, his voice flat. “You’ll
have plenty of chances. Why not let her have
this one?”
Later, to get his little darling a spot in the
orchestra, he even tried to break my fingers.
“Please, Justin, don’t hurt my hands!” I was
crying, twisting, trying to get away. I was
begging him.
I had zero dignity. I just pleaded with Justin
not to do this.
Tomorrow was the orchestra auditions.
If I did well, I wouldn’t just get into the
famous orchestra; I’d have a shot at being
mentored by Maestro Fletcher himself…
I’d been glued to the piano, practicing like
crazy. I was so desperate for this chance,
four years in the making.
This wasn’t just my dream, it was my mom’s.
She passed away and put all her hopes on
- me.
But my boyfriend, Justin, wanted to pave the
way for his childhood friend, Ashley.
く
He had two goons hold me down to smash
my hands.
He wanted to make sure I couldn’t play
tomorrow, so Ashley could win.
I knew Justin was biased, but I never thought
he’d go this far.
Justin heard me begging, but his face was
stone. He lifted the chair, coming closer.
He said, “I’m sorry, Jenny. You’re a natural,
things always come easy to you. You don’t
know how hard Ashley has to work. Can’t you
just let her have this?”
Was Ashley’s road hard? And mine wasn’t?
I looked at him in disbelief. My heart hurt. “So
く
you’re going to hurt me for her?”
“Remember when you said you’d protect me?
That you’d cherish me forever? Now you’re
doing this?”
Justin froze for a second, his face changed.
I saw his hesitation. “Justin, please. We’ve
been together for so long. Piano is my
dream.”
His phone rang.
I saw “Ashley” on the screen. My heart sank.
He answered on speakerphone, and Ashley’s
sweet voice filled the air.
“Justin, I’m so nervous about tomorrow. What
“I know I’ve never been as good as Jenny, but
getting into the orchestra is my dream, it was
my mom’s dream…”
Justin’s eyes softened. “Don’t worry,” he said
quietly. “I’ll fix it.”
I stared at him. I was terrified.
