The people on the internet felt betrayed. They
turned on Mark. Jake’s real identity was also
revealed. Beth was also pulled down with him.
They called Mark an animal and Beth a home
wrecker. They called Jake a liar.
Mark was in denial, but then he gave up.

People were protesting in front of the school,
and his house was covered in graffiti.
“Murderer.”
“You deserve to die.”

I knew it was because the drama was starting
to affect Beth’s job, and her kid was being
called a home wrecker’s son at school.
“Mark.”
I said softly. “God sees what you do. This is
your punishment.”
“Sarah! You are trying to ruin my life! You
won’t win!”
He said, “If I can’t live, you can’t live either. I
promise you I’m not gonna let you get away
with this!”

We were married for eight years, and I never
thought we would come to this point.
But I don’t regret it. If Lily was still alive, I
would be more rational. But she is gone.
There’s no point in being nice now. For
someone like Mark, being nice is being weak.
One of my friends worked at Beth’s company.

“I warned him multiple times, but he said that
