“You guys go on!”
I panted as I looked at the distant lights.
If I were alone, I was sure I could survive.
I walked toward the light, and tears began to sound behind me.
“Hey, kid, shut up, no crying.”
I dropped some branches I picked up, roughly splinting the brother’s broken leg and wrapped his head with a piece of clothing.
“Little one, listen, do you want to live?”
The younger brother nodded while crying.
I handed him the only small flashlight.
Take this. See that light? The police station is there. Run forward, don’t look back. Your brother and I will wait for you to come save us, got it?”
“Run, run! Go!”
Before he could say anything, I urged him to run.

I helped the brother to a hidden spot, covering him with layers of dry leaves.
