“Sure. What’s the test?” Marion replied.
“Quick Q&A.” Erica fired away, “What was your first impression of the bride?”
“She was so cute,” Marion replied.
“What?” Randy was taken aback. “You thought she was cute the first time you saw her?”
That didn’t sound right. Randy remembered the first time Marion saw Debra. It was outside an auction, and Debra had an aura about her, a presence that made her seem like a queen ready to take down a rival.
Cute? Not quite.
Garland was equally puzzled. Debra was good–looking. But cute? That was a stretch.
Erica scratched her chin, not entirely satisfied with the answer, but she figured love was blind.
So, she moved on to the next question. “If your first love and your wife both fell into the water, who would you save?”
“Debra is my first love,” Marion answered.
“That’s too easy,” Randy chimed in, frustrated. “Up the ante.”
Erica struggled. “I don’t know what to ask. Should we move on to the next round?”
She pulled out a set of bizarre foods and placed them on the table. “You have one minute to finish a ghost pepper, a bitter melon, a glass of vinegar, and a handful of sugar.”
“Why?” Randy asked.
“He has to taste sour, sweet, bitter, and spicy to marry the bride,” Erica explained.
“The wedding ceremony is coming up. Do you want him to show up with sausage lips?” Randy pointed out.
While Randy and Erica were arguing, Marion calmly popped the ghost pepper, the bitter melon, vinegar, and sugar into his mouth. The whole process took him less than half a minute.
“Wow!” Garland was amazed.
“Way to go,” Erica cheered. “Folks, meet my brother.”
Randy reminded her, “Your cousin.”
“Same difference.” Erica brushed it off.
Randy checked his watch. “Five minutes left. Any more tests? If not, we’re taking her away.‘
“There’s one last challenge,” Erica said, glancing at Liza’s burly bodyguards. “Defeat them in

“What? These two giants?” Randy protested, but Marion rolled up his sleeves and headed out.
Moments later, the screams of the two bodyguards echoed from outside.
Marion returned and asked, “Is that good enough?”
Erica couldn’t argue with that, but Liza complained, “It’s fine you guys made a bet. Why did you beat up my people?”
“Yeah, who’s paying their salaries?” Garland echoed.
Medical bills weren’t cheap, either.
Randy reassured them, “Don’t worry. They just fell and didn’t hurt at all.‘
Liza was unimpressed. “Isn’t he called the demon incarnate? I figured…”
“What?” Randy interrupted. “Today is Marion’s wedding day. No need for bloodshed.”
He then ushered everyone outside.
Marion walked up to Debra, got down on one knee, and looked at her with unhidden affection. “Are you ready, my bride?”
