Debra laughed with amusement, and Jordan laughed along.
“Alright, I can’t stay long. Congrats on the wedding. Remember to open the gift when you get back.”
“Got it.”
He put on his helmet, and she saw
him off with a smile.
“What are you doing there alone?” Erica rushed over, holding up her dress.
Debra looked at her still–flushed face. “Did the confession go well?”
Erica blushed even more. “Did you know about it all along?”
“Of course,” Debra grinned.
Erica pouted. “How could you let Randy do something so crazy? Who proposes at someone else’s wedding?”
“He’s not an outsider,” Debra said, smiling. “Besides, we’re all happy for you two.”
Just then, Liza came up and said, “What are you guys doing here? The bride needs to change clothes.”
Debra’s smile faltered, and Erica teased her, “You’ve got 12 outfits to get through tonight. No slacking off.”
She then dragged Debra to the dressing room.
In the hall, everyone was full and tipsy by the time Debra emerged in her 12th outfit. The photo session began, dragging on endlessly as guests from every table wanted pictures. The media snapped away relentlessly.
Finally, it was time for the last group photo. Caleb sat in the center, with Debra and Marion on either side. Randy, Erica, Michael, Garland, and Liza joined them.
Just as they were about to take the photo, Randy called out to Drake, “Aren’t you joining us?”
“Nah, why should I?” Drake had no intention of moving.
He was just there to have fun. Taking photos was not fun.
“It’s alright,” Debra said. “Let’s take the shot.”
Caught up in the moment, Drake suddenly changed his mind. “You know what? I’ll join.”
He stepped forward, making sure to stand prominently. “If it weren’t for me, you wouldn’t even be having this wedding. So, it’s only right that I…”
“Cut the chatter. Let’s get this over with,” Randy interrupted, urging the photographer to

“One, two, three, cheese.”
The camera flashed, and the photo was taken.
As evening approached, performances began. None of the guests left, but Debra and Marion were ready to retire to the pre–booked hotel.
“I’m beat,” Erica said, rubbing her shoulders as Debra removed her headpiece. “What does Marion have planned for your wedding night? Any surprises?”
“Not sure about surprises,” Debra yawned. “I just want to sleep.”
Erica shook her head. “No way. Tonight, you two will be opening gifts until your hands cramp.
“Huh?”
“See that gift table out front? Those thin envelopes are stuffed with bank cards.”
“How do you know that?”
“I checked.”
