Nadia’s face cycled through shades of red and purple, looking extremely ugly. Seeing I was about to leave, she forcibly dragged me into the
car.
“No matter what you say today, you have to come with me.”
I was already in so much pain I could barely move. I weakly begged her, “My stomach hurts, Can you take me to a pharmacy first?”
She laughed mockingly. “Are you addicted to acting now?”

“Even if you’re in pain to death today, you still have to go close this deal for me first.”
My fingers had gone completely cold. I clutched my stomach with difficulty, looking at her in disbelief.
The woman I had loved for so many years could actually say such things.
She could actually watch me suffer to death without batting an eye.
Fine. How lovely.
Hatred surged in my heart. My eyes turned bloodshot as I stared at her fixedly.

Nadia ignored my reaction and forcibly dragged me into the meeting room. As soon as we entered, she started exchanging pleasantries with
the business partners.
“I’m so sorry everyone. My employee was foolish and inconsiderate, wasting everyone’s time.”
She kept smiling as she introduced Kieran to the partners, constantly praising him and putting me down, completely oblivious to the partners‘ strange looks.
Kieran couldn’t hide the smugness in his eyes.
“See? The one who isn’t loved will always be the loser,” he said with the air of a victor, eyebrows raised.
“You loved her for so many years, cherished and protected her. But what use was it? All I had to do was crook my little finger and she came running back to me.”
His smug demeanor made it seem like Nadia wasn’t the love of his life, just a tool for him to show off.
I felt nauseous. The two of them were truly a perfect match – equally dismissive of others‘ love and efforts.
Nadia walked over to us, her smile stiff as she addressed me.
“Hurry up and tell everyone that Kieran was behind all the previous projects. You were just following orders.”
“As long as you do this, I can forgive you.“”
She was still so high and mighty, but I no longer wanted to put her on a pedestal. I moved away from them and walked to the center of the
room.
“I’m sorry for taking up a bit of your time,” I said, bowing deeply.
“I have now resigned from Nadia’s company. I won’t be participating in any future collaborations with them. Thank you all for your support over the years.”
With those words, the room exploded into chaos. Nadia’s face instantly darkened, but before she could react, the lead partner immediately made his stance clear.
“Nash, if you’re not involved in the partnership, then our collaboration with Nadia’s company ends here.”
The others chimed in as well.
“That’s right. All these years, if it wasn’t for your abilities, we wouldn’t have invested money in Nadia’s company at all. If you’re leaving, there’s no way we can continue working with them.”
I thanked them graciously, no longer caring about Nadia and Kieran’s ugly expressions as I strode out.
My vision was going dark. I had barely made it to the door when the pain made me lose all strength.
When I woke up, Nadia was sitting by my hospital bed, dozing off.

Seeing me awake, she instantly opened her eyes and looked at me with concern.
“You’re awake.”
“Is there anywhere else that’s uncomfortable? Should I call the doctor over?”
I dodged her touch, my brows furrowed. My rejection was already obvious enough.
Seeing this, her eyes reddened with hurt, but I no longer comforted her. There was even disgust in my eyes.
She finally realized she should be panicking.
“Why didn’t you tell me you had surgery?”
M
She threw a pile of medical reports onto my lap, hurt and aggrieved. “If you had said something, I definitely would have stayed by your side.”
Really?
I laughed coldly. She seemed to have forgotten who said those words.
It’s just a minor stomach issue, an old problem you’ve had for years. Why are you being so dramatic?
Now she was saying this as if I was the one who had done something wrong.
She became a bit guilty under my gaze, her voice faltering.
“Okay, fine. I was wrong. Is that good enough?”
“But no matter what, you can’t just say we’re breaking up.”
I didn’t want to see her anymore. I pointed at the door and said, “I can’t accept your apology. Get out.”
Nadia had been spoiled by me for so many years. This was the first time I had ever driven her away. She was both angry and anxious.
After pondering for a while, she seemed to have a sudden realization.
“I get it. You’re still angry that I helped Kieran with his treatment, right?”
“I’ve already explained. Kieran and I are innocent. Why won’t you believe me?”
I gave her a long, deep look. The mockery and derision in my eyes made Nadia inexplicably afraid.
Not wanting to waste more words with her, I directly tossed my phone to her.
Some indecent sounds came from the phone. On the screen, Nadia and Kieran were embracing and kissing passionately, their gazes intertwined as they made love.
The camera had recorded their shameful acts in perfect detail. I wanted to see how she could still deny it.
“It’s not like that. We were just confused that day,” Nadia said, clearly losing her confidence, her voice growing weaker.
“It was only that one time. We ended things cleanly after that.”
A pale, mocking smile tugged at my lips. Since I left, they had spent several days and nights together in what used to be my room. They said it was for treatment, but it only took one day for them to end up in bed. How could I believe anything she said now?
Seeing my completely indifferent expression, as if she was just a stranger to me, Nadia knew I was truly angry this time.
She nervously grabbed my hand, squeezing so hard it was like she wanted to dig into my flesh.
“Nash, you have to believe me. I love you. I hid this from you because I was afraid you’d overthink things.”
“I don’t love Kieran. Otherwise why would I have agreed to be with you?”
