“We’ve been together for so many years. You’re just going to throw me away like this?”
I clenched my jaw and looked at her with disdain, not sure who had abandoned who, or who didn’t care about our relationship.
“That’s right. I don’t want you anymore. I’m not interested in cheaters like you!”
“Are you satisfied now?”
I started to walk away, but she grabbed me tightly from behind.
“Don’t go.”
“Nash, I was wrong. I really know I was wrong.”
Her tears fell one by one onto my back, scorching hot and irritating.

After half a year apart, she had finally realized that all the previous projects had been me helping her at a loss.
Those things she thought were simple became a tangled mess in others‘ hands. No one else would help her selflessly like I did.
In just half a year, she had experienced the pain of chasing business deals, being humiliated and trampled on by others. Only then did she think of me, think of how I drank until I vomited blood to secure deals, yet acted like nothing was wrong the next day to comfort her.
“Why didn’t you tell me? If you had said something, I wouldn’t have said those hurtful things to you.”
People like her will always look for problems in others first. After being together for so many years, I already understood this and had no intention of arguing with her anymore.
I pried her fingers off one by one, turned to look at her, my eyes completely calm.
“Nadia, that day, I actually wanted to take you to see the Northern Lights.”
She may have forgotten, but she once said she hoped the man she loved would propose to her under the Northern Lights.
I had waited so many years, waited until we had the ability to start a family, had time to accompany each other. But the person by my side had inexplicably gotten lost.
“What I found instead was proof of you being with him.”‘
In an instant, tears of remorse welled up in Nadia’s eyes.
She moved her lips, trying to defend herself, but found all her words were so weak and powerless. In the end, she could only watch my figure disappear from sight.
I thought after this incident, we would never see each other again in this lifetime.
A few days later, however, I saw Nadia again at the entrance of my company.
Kieran was standing beside her.
But the way they looked at each other was no longer as intimate and affectionate as before.
When she saw me, Nadia’s dull eyes instantly lit up. She dragged Kieran over, pulling him in front of me.
“Apologize to Nash right now.”
I looked confused. Kieran kept his head down, lost in thought.
Nadia flew into a rage. She grabbed his hair and slapped him hard over a dozen times.
“You bastard! It’s all because of you. If you hadn’t sowed discord between us, how could Nash and I have broken up?”
Kieran was beaten until his nose bled. His vision went dark and he could barely stand.
After beating him, Nadia panted heavily, looking at me with a fawning expression.

“Nash, you can hit him or scold him. Do whatever you want to vent your anger.”
Then she turned to Kieran, her eyes looking like she wanted to tear him apart.
“If you don’t get Nash’s forgiveness today, I’ll report you for embezzling company funds. You can rot in jail.”
Kieran was scared out of his wits. He frantically grabbed my sleeve, his face covered in tears and snot.
I couldn’t be bothered to listen to his apology. I shook him off and walked away. Nadia cursed him as useless and hurriedly chased after me.
“Nash, I’ve already made him apologize. I won’t see him ever again after this!”
“If you’re still not satisfied, you can hit me or scold me. Just please don’t leave.”
Her face was full of regret and tear stains. I stopped and stared at her for a long time before sighing softly.
“Nadia, you still don’t understand why I broke up with you!”
The main reason I broke up with her wasn’t because of Kieran, but because of her.
We were together for seven years. There were so many opportunities for us to get married, but we missed them every time.
Aside from Kieran, there were problems in our relationship itself.
“Nadia, was there something I didn’t do well enough? Why did you choose Kieran? Do you love him that much?”
Why did I feel like I had given her all my love, yet she still turned a blind eye and easily chose someone else?
Was our relationship of so many years really not worth as much as her unrequited love from her youth?
My questions stunned her for a moment. When she reacted, she shook her head frantically.
“It’s not like that.”
on’t love Kieran at all.”
e just couldn’t let it go. In the past when her circumstances weren’t as good, she wasn’t good enough for Kieran and was humiliated by his other. She always had that knot in her heart.
This time when Kieran came back and actively pursued her, it allowed her to regain her pride.
“Being with him was just a momentary impulse, just playing around.”
My heart grew colder. For someone she didn’t even love, she could betray her partner like this. What did our relationship of so many years
mean to her?
Nadia humbly rested her face on my shoulder, holding back sobs as she said:
‘I’m sorry. I was confused for a moment. You were too good to me, so good that I thought you would forgive me no matter what.”
“I regretted it the day you left, but you had spoiled me so much that I couldn’t bring myself to beg you to come back. I never thought we would end up like this. If I could do it over again, I would never treat you this way!”
She cried painfully, but I just found it somewhat laughable.
Since when did loving someone more and giving more become a fault?
I took a step back, silently widening the distance between us.
There are no do–overs in this world. Everyone has to face the consequences of their choices.
“Nadia, let’s not see each other again in the future.”
She could no longer hold back and broke down sobb…..

When she was busy, I would take the initiative to do housework and prepare meals for her the next day.
When I was sick, she would buy medicine for me, make soup, and take time off work to take care of me.
In my interactions with her, I gradually forgot the past and started thinking about marriage.
When she learned I was willing, she quickly agreed to get our marriage license without a second of hesitation. We had a big wedding full of joy
and blessings.
I stared at everything in a daze, feeling a bit unreal. It turns out going from dating to marriage doesn’t have to take seven years.
Three years after our marriage, we had a daughter.
“You’re responsible and dependable. Our child will be very happy being born into this kind of family, she told me in our second year of marriage.
My eyes reddened. I instinctively intertwined our fingers, touched by her trust and also moved that someone finally recognized my efforts and gave me love and appreciation in return.
After our daughter was born, we held a grand celebration.
While organizing the gifts, we found a delicate baby bracelet.
Emma picked it up and admired the design, “This bracelet is quite unique.”
“Strange, there’s no card saying who it’s from.”
I took the bracelet, a distant memory suddenly flashing through my mind. I quietly put it away.
“It must be from someone not very important. Let’s not worry about it,”
Our daughter started crying loudly. I quickly set everything aside and carefully picked her up.
Emma handed me the prepared milk. Our eyes met and we both smiled.
