From the moment Derek brought Chloe back from the airport, the driver had told me that there was another woman coming back with him.
No matter how much I loved Derek, I was still the only daughter of the Carter family. I wasn’t stupid enough to hand over everything my parents had worked hard to build.
Over the past few years, Derek had indeed removed many of my loyal employees, but what he didn’t know was that I could give him the management rights of the company because I had full confidence in controlling the situation.
When all the evidence was presented to Derek, he clenched his fists in anger and shouted at Chloe, “So, you never loved me at all, you just treated me as a backup plan, right?!”
I didn’t expect that even now, Derek was still concerned about whether there was love between him and Chloe.
I publicly announced that Derek had been kicked out of the company and told him that I would thoroughly investigate all the accounts of the company during the years he was in charge. Any non–compliant funds would need to be returned at the original price.
Derek panicked and quickly explained, “Lily, this whole thing is a complete misunderstanding. I was deceived. Can you forgive me this once?”
Alex, seeing Derek’s face, couldn’t help but throw the divorce agreement I had asked him to prepare at Derek’s face.
“Just sign it quickly. Stop pretending to beg for forgiveness here.”
“You should understand Lily’s personality. Once she’s made up her mind about something, she won’t change it!”
After learning the truth, Derek’s parents also started speaking up for Derek.
But it was all too late.
I laughed coldly and stopped them, “Enough! It’s meaningless to say these things now.”
That day, Derek’s family, along with Chloe, were driven out of my house.
I contacted the property management and put these four people on the blacklist of visitors to my house. I didn’t want to see any of them appear at my doorstep again.
After dealing with the matter, I left the country with Alex that night.
Of course, we weren’t going on vacation.
Alex told me he could help me with the jewelry industry I had always wanted to enter.
He knew that I had liked drawing since I was young and had extreme design talent.
But as the only daughter in the family, my mission from a young age told me that I must learn business. I was destined to inherit the family business.
Later, design could only be counted as one of my personal hobbies.
In the years that Derek was in charge of the company, I had mentioned to him several times that I wanted to lead the company into the Jewelry industry, but was always rejected by Derek.
Derek even thought I was petty, saying that was a niche industry that rich second generations played with.
He had a strong sense of self–esteem. In these years, apart from the company’s annual meeting, he almost never let me attend any meetings.
His reason was that if both of us managed the company, it would cause confusion among the employees.
I respected his thoughts, so this matter had always been shelved,
Yesterday, I had only briefly mentioned this to Alex, and he immediately started arranging it.
On the plane, he thoughtfully brought me snacks and earplugs.
He still remembered that I liked quiet and would sleep on cars and planes.
