Jack really did come to my family’s home.
He stood at the door carrying boxes of gifts. My parents locked the door and ignored his
knocking.
When he got tired of knocking, he sat on the steps and drank water.
He stayed outside my house for a day. When heavy rain started pouring down, he put down the gifts and got in a taxi, leaving.
In the middle of the night, I received a call from my mother–in–law. She cursed at me, “Amelia Taylor, you bitch! My son got in a car accident! If he hadn’t gone to see you, would this have happened?”
As Jack’s wife, for the sake of family harmony, I had always turned a blind eye to my
mother–in–law’s behavior.
Now, I didn’t need to put up with her anymore.
“I already filed for divorce. Please keep your son in check and stop him from coming to my house! If you want to keep scolding me, I’ll call the police to deal with it.“”
For people like my mother–in–law, one mention of calling the police is enough.
She quickly hung up, afraid I would actually call the police the next second.
However, I still needed to see Jack. I took another copy of the divorce agreement to his
hospital.
He wasn’t seriously injured. When he saw me come in, he was able to sit up.
He asked hopefully, “Amelia, have you decided not to divorce?”
Not get divorced and keep watching him maintain an ambiguous relationship with Olivia?
I placed the divorce agreement where he could reach it. “Jack Anderson, do you dare

swear to heaven that you don’t love Olivia?”
Ethan suddenly blocked Jack. “Go away, you nasty woman! Dad has told me many times that the person he loves most is Mom! Dad always buys Mom lots of nice things and never buys you anything. Dad loves you the least!”
I understood. Jack must have done a lot for Olivia, so much that even a 5–year–old child like Ethan remembered it clearly.
My mother–in–law also wanted to take this opportunity to say more hurtful things to me, but one glare from me scared the words back down her throat.
Jack stammered, “Ethan is still here. Let’s not talk too much in front of the child.”
I turned to leave.
After relaxing for two days, I went to the hospital alone for an abortion.
It wasn’t until after the procedure, looking at my flat stomach, that I finally let out a long sigh of relief.
With the child gone, I wouldn’t have any lingering attachment to Jack either.
Half a month later, when my body had mostly recovered, Jack came to my house to find me again. He still hadn’t signed the divorce agreement.
“Amelia, you still have my child in your belly. For the sake of the child, can we stop fighting?” Jack shouted at my bedroom window from downstairs.
I went downstairs. When he saw my flat stomach, he panicked. “Why didn’t you discuss it with me before getting rid of the baby? Did you not consider me at all?”
“Did you think about me when you were maintaining an ambiguous relationship with Olivia? You have Ethan, so you don’t need children. Of course, you don’t need me either. After all, you still have Olivia,” I said.
Every word I said was the truth. Jack was silent for a long time.
“Did you also want me to have the baby so you could use the child to maintain an

The more uncomfortable it made him, the more it proved what I said was true.
“Amelia, do we have to be so aggressive? Don’t we even have a chance to talk things through properly?” Jack asked.
As soon as Jack finished speaking, I slapped him across the face.
“Stop looking for me. If Olivia found out, wouldn’t she be disappointed in you?” I said.
