When it came to matters concerning Jane, Silas always acted quickly.
We had just signed the divorce papers in the morning, and by evening, he had arranged a press conference. He sent his assistant to ask me to attend and clarify the situation.
Before I could speak, the assistant, assuming I would refuse, relayed the message Silas
had told him to deliver.
He said, “Miss Thea, you should attend this press conference. If not for Mr. Smith’s sake,
then for your own reputation.”
I was stunned for a second, then let out a scornful laugh.
Silas was threatening me.
He was trying to use the same tactics from my previous life to force me to comply, to smear my name, and let me struggle under public scrutiny.
Until I would finally bow my head in submission.
I had never understood whether Silas saw me as a wife or an enemy…

Now he wants to publicly clarify our relationship.
I won’t be an exception.
The press conference was arranged in the most luxurious hotel lobby, with invitations sent to the most influential reporters in the industry.
When Jane appeared arm in arm with Silas, the reporters immediately swarmed around
them.
Silas instinctively shielded Jane behind him, smiling as he blocked the microphones for
her. “Please wait, I will answer all your questions one by one.”
“Now, could you please make way?” he said in a gentle voice, looking up just in time to see me also surrounded by reporters.
Our eyes met, and I vaguely still hoped that Silas would come to my rescue.
But the next second-
He calmly shifted his gaze away, a smile on his lips, holding Jane’s hand as they walked to the stage, as if he hadn’t seen me at all.
I curved my lips in a mocking smile.
The reporter closest to me seemed to be an intern. She timidly held out her microphone
to me and asked:
“Miss Thea, have you really divorced Mr. Smith?”
“Yes,” I smiled and nodded in response.
The intern pushed up her glasses. “But you and Mr. Smith met in high school, dated for seven years, and were married for five years.
“Just last month, Mr. Smith spent a fortune to buy you a small island named after you.”
I continued to smile, but the smile didn’t reach my eyes.

“That was what he owed me.”
It was a gift to make up for missing my birthday to take care of the sick Jane.
In my previous life, I was still smug about this, only to find out later that it was Jack’s idea, and Silas’s assistant had chosen the island. Silas didn’t even know where the island
was located.
“Do you still love Mr. Smith now?” she asked.
She looked at me nervously, and the reporters surrounding me also fell silent. Even Silas on the stage looked in my direction.
His brows furrowed slightly.
I just calmly glanced at him before curving my lips and saying, “Not anymore.”
