On the day I finalized my divorce from Declan, Nora was there as well.
She held onto Declan’s hand tightly, worried that I might lure him back with a few sweet words.
When the divorce papers were in hand, she visibly relaxed. While Declan went to get the car, she took the opportunity to taunt me.
“For three years, you played the part of Mrs. Declan while we were having issues. Consider it a favor from me.”
“Nora, don’t forget–you’re forever the daughter of a penny–pincher.”
“Watch yourself; I’ll make sure you regret ever crossing me.”
I grabbed her hair, making her scream. Leaning close to her ear, I whispered with a smirk, “Nora, I have evidence of what you’ve done.”
She froze, panic written all over her face. Pleased, I continued, “Don’t worry, I’m not as cruel as you.”
“I don’t want you dead. I want you to feel like you’re living in hell.”
