Chapter 10
Penelope had many close friends during her college years, but after marrying him and becoming a housewife, she gradually withdrew from social circles and lost contact with those old friends.
Killian nearly collapsed. His chest felt tight, like a dying fish gasping for air. With trembling hands, he opened the divorce agreement.
In the section for reasons, Penelope had handwritten a few words, “Because the man cheated…”
Killian’s eyes widened in shock.
Discovered. Penelope had found out about his affair with Anastacia.
But how? She had always acted so normal, as if she knew nothing.
His heart raced, pounding in his chest like. a drum. He retraced the events of the last

month, desperately trying to piece it all together.
It started the day he accepted the fan and had the diamond necklace placed around his neck. Penelope had smiled faintly, and at the time, he thought it was a smile of happiness. But now, he realized it was a smile full of bitterness–the kind that only someone deeply hurt could make.
He recalled the night when Anastacia barged into his house. Penelope had asked him, her voice almost trembling, “Do you still remember our wedding vows?”
With a sinking heart, he had recited them, “Between you and me, there will be not betrayal, no change of heart, no deception.”
But the look in Penelope‘ s eyes wasn’t joy. It was a look of suppressed sorrow, tears held back by an immense force.
“She knows… She knew it all along!”
Killian fell to his knees, furious with

himself. He punched the floor in frustration, unable to stop his emotions. from spilling out.
Tears dripped onto the divorce agreement, blurring Penelope’s signature.
He quickly wiped away the tears, terrified of ruining the last thing she had left for him. This document, this agreement, was the final piece of her that remained, and he couldn’t let it slip away.
But it was too late.
His tears blurred Penelope’s handwriting, and for a moment, it felt as if the very relationship they had built over the years had been destroyed by his own hands. Killian cradled the paper to his chest, sobbing uncontrollably. “Ali, Ali, don’t leave me, don‘ t leave me…”
Time passed in a haze, and when he finally calmed down, he stumbled out of the villa in a daze. It was dark outside, and the tears on his face had long since dried, leaving a

cold emptiness behind. There was only one. question left that he couldn’t answer: How did Penelope find out? He had been so careful, so meticulous–she shouldn’t
have known.
His steps led him silently to the back of the car. Inside, Anastacia sat in the passenger seat, rolling down the window and casually scrolling through her phone. Despite the distance, Killian noticed something immediately–on the left side of the dialog. box on her screen, there was Penelope‘ s
avatar.
A cold dread crawled up his spine, and with growing suspicion, he moved closer, trying to stay unnoticed. As he drew near, the content of the messages on her screen became clearer. His heart slammed against his chest.
It was a picture of a pregnancy test report. A photo of her and him in bed… The messages were mostly from her, but none had been replied to by the other person,

yet there was no rejection either.
A sharp pain pierced his head, and the world seemed to crash around him.
It was her! It was this bitch who told Penelope everything!
Anastacia had betrayed him–she had been the one to reveal everything to Penelope.
Lost in her own self–satisfaction, Anastacia was gloating over the havoc she had caused. As she admired her message
thread, her phone was suddenly snatched from her hands.
Startled, she whipped around, ready to lash out, but her eyes widened in shock at the sight before her.
“Killian?”
Killian’s face was contorted in rage. His teeth clenched, his voice low and furious, “Who gave you permission to call my name?”
Without a word, he scrolled through the

Anastacia looked at him, her face paling in fear, and stammered, “Mr. Barnes, this is all a misunderstanding, please, let me explain…”
