“Penelope, my child and I will live in this big villa bought by the child’s father in the future.”
I didn’t respond to her message. Instead, I took all the pink gifts Killian had given me over the years and put them up for sale. on a second–hand website.
The next day, Anastacia sent me dozens of photos of Killian sleeping, each one with a date attached.
“Penelope, I feel like Killian hasn’t
changed much in the past two years since we got together. Can you help me see if it’s true?”
It felt like a cruel joke. I found the ten love letters I had written to Killian over the past decade. On each one, his name was
carefully written by my hand. As I looked
at each word, it brought back memories of a love that once felt so real.

But now, all I felt was emptiness. I tore up each letter and threw them into the brazier.
On the third day, Anastacia sent me a 4D photo of her child.
“Penelope, I heard you studied fine arts in college. You must know a lot about portraits, right? Can you help me see if the child looks more like Killian or me?”
She also sent dozens of photos of herself and Killian, each taken in different parts of the world.
I walked out of the study and grabbed the photo album of Killian that I had kept for so long. With a quick motion, I tore it up and threw it into the trash.
On the fourth day, Killian told me he was going on a business trip.
I asked where he was going and who would be accompanying him. He looked at me, surprised.

work now?”
I had always given him space before, never asking about these things. But today, I
needed an answer.
After a brief moment of silence, Killian hugged me and said, “We‘ re going to another province, and my assistant secretary will be with us. No outsiders.”
Just as he spoke, Anastacia sent me their plane tickets.
“Penelope, I said yesterday that I was in a bad mood, and President Barnes is taking me to a hot spring today to relax. The company’s really busy, and several major projects have launched, but he’s willing to give it all up just to make me happy. I can only say, he really loves me.”
I didn’t say anything. I just put on his coat for him as he prepared to leave.
Once he was gone, I had three days left to finish cleaning up the last of my things at home.

Goodbye, Killian.
On the morning of the day I left, I got into the car early to head to the airport. When I arrived, Killian suddenly called me, his voice filled with anxiety and flustered
concern.
“Honey, why did you put all the things I gave you on the second–hand website?”
I answered calmly, “I don‘ t like those things anymore. I used to like pink when I was younger, but people can’t stay the same. forever, right?”
Relieved that it was only a matter of color, Killian let out a sigh.
“I was so scared. I thought you didn’t like me anymore, my wife.” His voice softened. “I just got off the plane and saw a screenshot of the second–hand website sent to me by a friend. I was really worried.”

won’t give you the gift I bought this time,” he continued. “I‘ ll be home in about an
hour. When I get back, tell me what color you like now!”
He still spoke as if he loved me, but deep down, I knew it was all a lie.
I nodded, reminded him softly, “You can open the gift I gave you today.”
I hung up the phone, walking up to the second floor of the airport. From there, I could clearly see him on the first floor, his arms around Anastacia as they walked out together. Although they wore sunglasses. and masks, I recognized him instantly.
After all, he was the man I had loved for ten years.
Before boarding, the staff kindly reminded me of my gate.
