For the second mock exam, I went all out as the principal requested. Not only did I rank
first in the school, but I also became the top scorer in the entire city, outpacing the
second–place student by a full 30 points.
Many classmates approached me for advice. My methods, however, were too unique to
replicate. I told them to stick to diligent study.
The pressure crushed Ivy, and her rank plummeted to 100th in the grade.
Panicked, she bought my favorite cake and tried to reconcile.
“Sis, I was stupid before and did awful things to hurt you. I know I was wrong now.”
“Can you tutor me? My scores have dropped too much lately.”
I looked at her innocent, helpless expression. If I didn’t know the lengths she’d gone to in my last life, I might’ve believed she was genuine.
“I’m busy. Ask one of the school’s star scholars to help you.”
That Sunday, Ethan’s mom handed me a large sum of money to tutor Ethan.
As I got ready to leave, Ivy stood pitifully by the door, watching me put on my shoes.
“Sis, I know you still resent me. But we’re family–there’s no grudge that lasts forever. I’ve already apologized. What more do you want? You can tutor others; why not me?”
Ethan’s driver was already waiting downstairs. I didn’t even bother lying.
“I do resent you, and I don’t want to tutor you. You hurt me. Why should a simple ‘sorry‘ erase everything you’ve done?”
“Do you have any idea how much effort it takes to heal from what you put me through?”
Ivy turned to my mom for help.
“Mom, look at Hazel! If I don’t get into a good college, won’t you be the one who has to

worry about me?”
Mom didn’t even glance up from her food, her expression flat.
“If your sister doesn’t want to help, don’t push her. Anyone would struggle to forgive what you did to her. I don’t even want to think about what would’ve happened to Hazel if that Rocco Delgado had taken her. What kind of life would she have had?”
Ivy slammed her fists on the door, tears streaming down her face.
“You’re worried about her life, but what about mine? If I don’t get into a good college, my life will be a mess!”
“If you and Dad were like Ethan’s parents, with billions in assets, would I have to work myself to the bone studying?”
Mom put down her fork, eyes reddening. “Ivy your dad and I aren’t as capable as Ethan’s parents. But we’ve never let you go without and have done everything to support your education.”
- Kicking and shouting, Ivy stormed off to pack her bag.
“If you’re so poor, why have kids and make us suffer? I don’t care. Hazel has to tutor me Wherever she goes, I’ll follow her.”
True to her word, she showed up outside Ethan’s house. But she couldn’t get past the
gates.
After trailing me twice and achieving nothing, her grades tanked further, dropping her to 500th in the grade.
Meanwhile, Ethan climbed from the bottom of the class to 896th, enough to get into a private college.
Soon enough, June 7th arrived–the SATS were here.
