Chapter 11
I turned away in disgust.
Now, hearing this belated apology only made me feel repulsed.
Whether or not Camilla was carrying his child was irrelevant. He did everything he shouldn’t have done. He crossed every boundary he shouldn’t have crossed.
He saw me walking with Parker and became insanely jealous, consumed by rage and possessiveness. He must know how I’d feel seeing him so intimate with his little childhood friend.
But he was just selfish, wanting it all— keeping me while eyeing someone else.
The truth was, he never truly loved me.
‘Asher, there’s something I’ve never told you,” I said, my voice cold.
Asher’s eyes lit up. “What is it?”

I smiled faintly, and intoned coldly, “The biggest regret of my life is marrying you.”
“If I could do it all over again, I would never have met you, let alone married you.”
The light in Asher‘ s eyes dimmed, his face falling.
As he realized I was about to leave, he tried to stop me. “Avery, I love you. Don’t you really love me?”
“You promised to have children with me. Why are you suddenly being so cruel and leaving me?”
I shook my head, too tired to argue anymore.
I raised my hand and shook my diamond ring in front of him.
“See this? I’m about to get married.”
“Asher, we’ll never go back to the past, and you won’t be invited to my
wedding.”

On the day of the wedding, Asher somehow found out the details and showed up uninvited.
He stood in the audience, watching as
Parker and I exchanged rings and shared a passionate kiss.
He silently gave his gift money and left.
I heard that on that same day, Asher‘ company declared bankruptcy.

Later, it was reported that he jumped off the longest bridge in the city, ending his life. When the police recovered his body, it had already bloated from being submerged in water.
In the house he once lived in, the police found a suicide note he had left behind:

betrayed you. Perhaps you’re leaving me is the universe’s punishment for me.]
[I told you before, I can’t live without
you.]
[If there’s an afterlife, I’d want to meet you again, but I swear I’ll never make the same mistake again. I’m so sorry, Avery. I hope you find happiness…]
When the police notified me that his entire estate was being passed to me, I simply smiled.
“Just donate it all.”
After all, I had taken what was mine. Anything that wasn’t, I didn’t want. It was bad luck.
