I just didn’t care.
After closing the door, I felt like I could finally
breathe again.
But my head was spinning.
The next thing I knew, I was waking up in a
hospital.
Sarah, seeing I was awake, sighed in relief,
“Thank goodness I asked the neighbors to
keep an eye on you! I knew they were up to
no good when they came looking for you!”
“When I came in, you were just lying on the floor! Thank god it was just low blood sugar,
you scared me!”
“I’m so sorry I worried you,” I said, looking at
“Don’t be! But, here’s something to make you
feel better!”
She handed me a few papers, “I got these for
you too.”
They were the prenuptial health check results
for Jake and me.
I was confused, but I still went through the
documents, and I quickly landed on the line
that made me freeze in place.
“Jake has a zero sperm count?” I asked.
“So, Tiffany’s baby isn’t his?!” I was so
shocked that my voice got louder.
Sarah nodded, grinning, “I know! I was
shocked too! And I asked the doctor about it,
and he said Jake can’t have kids!”
“He tried to play dad, that jerk! He deserves
it!”
She was practically dancing with glee.

I couldn’t help but laugh too.
This was probably the best news I’d had in a
while.
“What are you gonna do now? Are you gonna tell them? But, Brittany, you really should be
done with him…”
“All I feel for him is hate,” I interrupted. After
a moment, I said, “Let’s keep it a secret for
now.”
“We’ll drop the bomb when Tiffany’s about
seven or eight months along.”
By then, she couldn’t get an abortion.

By then, she couldn’t get an abortion.
Tiffany would go as far as to ruin my life just
to get her way, and now, it was my turn to
return the favor. I was going to mess with her
until she couldn’t breathe.
Sarah, liking the sound of that, gave me a
thumbs up.
We looked at each other and laughed.
I was so grateful for her, she was always
there for me.
After we decided on the next plan, I spent
another day in the hospital and left.
I didn’t have Sarah pick me up, I drove myself.
When I pulled into the driveway, Jake was
sitting on the curb.
I looked at him, my face turning cold.
“Are you okay? I heard you were
hospitalized,” he said, trying to be all sweet.
I used to love his tenderness, his soft voice
when he was talking to me
