Chapter 5
Yvonne was stunned for a moment, but she quickly answered calmly, “Dr. Jansen and I are using the room. Are there no other operating theaters available, Ben?”
I lay on the operating table and opened my mouth to scream, but as soon as I moved my facial muscles, my wounds stung with pain. I didn’t dare to move.
“It’s okay. I’m just asking,” Benedict said.
Yvonne was completely different when she was talking to Benedict. Unlike the insolence she’d shown me, she was now sweet and dainty as she came up with an excuse. At the end, she added, “Wait for me to finish up. I want to go shopping with you.”
“Okay. I need to get an Outoman figurine as a gift, too.”
Even though I couldn’t see Benedict’s expression, I knew he was smiling.
A few days ago, Jeremy had clung to Benedict’s arm and asked him for a “big boy” gift since he was turning seven soon.
Benedict had nodded and asked him what he wanted, poking Jeremy’s forehead as he did so. Jeremy had said, with all the confidence of a seven–year–old, that he wanted an Outoman figurine.
A tear fell from the corner of my eye.
That was just a few days ago. Jeremy was dead now.
Benedict was very close to Jeremy. I couldn’t bear to think how sad Benedict would be when he heard about Jeremy’s death.
Consumed in my own sorrow, I did not notice the cruel glint in Yvonne’s eyes when Benedict mentioned that he wanted to buy a figurine as a gift.
Benedict left. He was completely unaware that on the other side of the door, his girlfriend was torturing his mother.
Yvonne glared at me. “You bitch! I can’t believe you’re more cunning than I thought. How did you get Benedict to talk about buying a gift for his bastard son in front of me?
“Thank God that bastard is dead. Otherwise, I can’t imagine how frustrated I would be with him involved in our marriage.”
She gritted her teeth. Then, as if she had just thought about something, she shifted her gaze to my lower body.
“I need to eliminate the problem once and for all,” she muttered. “Killing one bastard isn’t enough. What if you gave birth to more bastards while my back is turned?”
She seemed to be completely lost in her own thoughts as she muttered, “Yes! I’m so smart. I have to get rid of the root of the problem. Killing one bastard isn’t enough. I need to kill this bitch, too.
“But, no. If I murder something, I won’t be able to marry Benedict with a clean record.”
Even now, she was still thinking about marrying Benedict.

Chapter 5
As long as I was still alive, she would never be able to marry Benedict, even if it took disowning him to make him see sense.
“I can just sew her back up again. Yes, I’m so clever! No wonder Benedict loves me so much.” Yvonne smiled shyly again and gave herself a thumbs–up. Then, her expression turned vicious as she walked toward me.
I had been beaten up earlier, so I had no strength left to resist, especially now that I was naked and tied to the operating table.
Despite that, I still tried to reason with her. “Yvonne, please stop. I’m not Benedict’s mistress. I’m his mother. Let me go!” I screamed as Yvonne drove a needle through my skin.
Every stitch was excruciating. The pain even made my scalp tingle. Eventually, I lost the strength to speak.
“Now, no more little bastards will be born. Benedict will be mine and mine alone, forever. The wealth of the Fuller family and this hospital will belong to my son!” Yvonne laughed loudly.
Just then, someone knocked on the door hurriedly. “Yvonne, who’s in there with you? I just saw Dr. Jansen outside. He said he doesn’t have any surgeries scheduled right now. Who’s in there with you?”
When Yvonne did not answer, Benedict panicked and broke down the door.
