Chapter 11
After twenty years of being their childhood friend, they only realized my worth after I had left. How pathetic and absurd it was.
I did not respond to their pleas. James, who always considered himself a nobleman, knelt before me. With his face in his hands,
he sobbed.
“Leslie, have you really forgotten everything that we shared?”
“You are really thorough. You walked away without taking anything. You did not take even a single photo or dress.”
“The lilies of the valley in the mansion had gone, and everything of yours is also gone. After twenty years, you left behind nothing except memories.”
I had tended to those lilies for years and they were so close to blooming. However, it wasn’t enough.

Chapter 11
The wedding hymn sounded and drowned the sound of James’s crying. My mother signaled for the guards to take them away.
However, out of nowhere, Bruce managed to summon his strength. He was able to break free from the guard and rush toward
- me.
He dropped to his knees before me. Then he grabbed a rock and slammed it hard onto his leg.
I gasped at the sight but he looked at me with a smile as if he did not feel any pain.
“Leslie, please don’t be angry. Forgive me, please. I’ll do everything you ask me….”
I looked at his bloodied leg and sighed.
“James, Bruce … you both taught me that no effort matters when the other person doesn‘ t love you.”
“I’m pregnant now, and from this day forward, my family of three will be filled with happiness.”

Chapter 11
“So I hope you’ll stay out of my life for good. Even if you were dying, I wouldn’t want to see you.”
With a wave, I ordered the guards to take them away, then walked confidently to the one who’d been waiting for me all along, Luke.
In the presence of the minister, we exchanged rings and recited vows of love.
All the past bitterness had already faded. From this day forward, I will live a life full of joy, with no regrets.
