Chapter 9
When Luke heard my words, he smiled, took my hand, and slid a huge dazzling diamond ring onto my hand. It was even bigger than the ones that the Xander brothers gave Lucy, even if they were combined together.
Its sparkle was highlighting the noble status of the Lambert Family.
This fact deeply wounded the Xander brothers. Bruce was furious. “Leslie, are you really throwing away twenty years of relationship just for the Lambert Family’s power and wealth? I never thought you were so materialistic.”
I couldn’t help but laugh.
Once upon a time, I did not care about wealth or status. All I ever wanted was just a tiny sign of true love. However, what did I get in exchange? A harsh slap from James. and a brutal kick from Bruce that was

almost broke my leg.
They did not have any inkling that the Turner Family had made a comeback. They did not know that my mother had paid back every cent the Xander Family had spent on me. They did not realize that all the debt between us had long been settled. I did not owe them anything anymore.
Ever since Lucy came to the picture, they had thrown all their attention to her. While
they were treating me like I was still a helpless vulnerable orphan.
Now, with Luke by my side, I did not have to bear it any longer. I ordered the guards. to drag the Xander brother out.
Bruce tried to struggle for a moment. The man could deliver a painful blow toward me, a woman who had just come out of the hospital, but he was not much for these. strong bodyguards.
When he realized he could not break free, he started to insult me, “Leslie, I don’t

believe you can be so heartless! You must still have feelings for me!”
Then he turned to Luke and sneered, “You are the Lambert Family’s heir, but you’re willing to marry a woman like her. I doubt you two will be happy in the future!”
Meanwhile, James kept his calm and did not say anything. His eyes stayed fixed on me with a complex gaze. Then he finally said, “Leslie, you’ll regret this.”
After they were both dragged away, a complete calmness settled around us.
Luke turned to look at me. “Leslie, do you think you will regret this? We can postpone the wedding if you still need time.”
I looked at the man who was standing in front of me. Years of meditation had given him a cool, compassionate aura, much like his grandmother‘ s, Grandma Lambert.
Compared to the selfish and hollow Xander brothers, Luke was truly a gentleman. He was truly a calm and steady son of the

noble family. It was no wonder my mother kept urging me to agree to this marriage.
I reached up to trace his elegant brow, then rose on my toes and kissed him softly.
“No regrets,” I whispered, “and no need to dwell on missed chances. I don’t regret any of my choices.” Then I smiled,
“However right now, I can’t wait for us to have a child.”
For a moment, Luke froze. Then he pulled me close and deepened our kiss.
