Chapter 7
### Chapter 7
Darius stubbornly tried to keep me from leaving, his grip tightening on my arm. The tension in the air was thick, and I could feel the anger radiating from my senior classmates. They had held back their frustration for too long, and now it was boiling over.
“You need to go, Darius !” one of them shouted, taking a step forward.
“Stay away from her!” another warned, his voice low and serious.
With that, Darius stumbled back, his face twisting in disbelief. The shock of my classmates stepping in made him reconsider his approach.
“Is he the reason you ran away from the wedding? What do you think you‘ re doing?” Darius voice dripped with confusion as he pointed at my senior,
I felt a mix of emotions at that moment–anger, pity, and a lingering hurt that I thought had dulled.
Η
‘Are you really so determined to get revenge on me?” I asked, my voice steady despite the turmoil
within.
‘Rina, you can t just walk away! You can’t” His desperation was evident, his eyes pleading with
- me.
“Darius, stop assuming everyone is as selfish as you. The most important thing is that we re already
broken up!”
His expression hardened, defiance mixing with disbelief. “I never agreed to that!
“You don’t need to agree. I’m just telling you what has happened,” I said, the finality of my words hanging in the air.
After realizing that he had lost the argument, Darius’s pride seemed to fade. “Rina, please! You can’t leave like this! After everything we’ve been through!”
At that moment, I felt torn. I remembered the two years I had spent abroad, wondering if he had really loved me or if I was just a placeholder. But as the memories flooded back, so did the realization that he had betrayed me time and again.
Every plane ticket was a reminder of the countless moments he chose to hurt me instead of fighting for us. Yet, I didn’t want to argue with him about right or wrong. I had made my choice to run away from the wedding, and there was no room for reconciliation in this relationship.
“Darius, people need to move forward. Just go!” I urged, pulling my friends back from the tense atmosphere. The last thing I wanted was for anyone to be caught up in our mess.
“Rina, how can you be so heartless? After twenty years of love, you just walk away like it means nothing! What do you take me for?” His voice cracked with desperation, making my heart ache despite my resolve.
I stood there, conflicted. I had wished for clarity in our relationship, but not like this. “I want to be clear. I don’t want to be with you anymore,” I said firmly..
“Rina, you can’t mean that!” he exclaimed, his voice rising.
“I do, Darius. I don‘ t love you anymore!” I’shouted, my heart racing as I spoke the truth I had been trying to suppress.
Darius s face fell, and I could see him crumble under the weight of my rejection. He looked at me for a long time, his gaze searching for something that was no longer there.
“Rina, what do you want me to do to earn your forgiveness? Why are you being so cruel?”
“Because I don’t love you anymore!” I reiterated, feeling the weight of my decision settle heavily in my chest.
His eyes, once filled with pride, now brimmed with vulnerability. A glimmer of hope flickered in his gaze, but I couldn‘ t bear to feed it.
I’ll do anything! Just tell me!” he pleaded, desperation filling the space between us.
I hesitated, feeling the sting of his words. “No, Darius. It’s over. I won’t go back to that life. I refuse to be trapped in that cycle again.
He clung to the hope that maybe if he said the right thing, I would change my mind. “Rina, can we talk about this? Just give me a chance!
‘Darius, I really think you need to understand that I’ve made up my mind. This isn’t just some phase for me. I watched as frustration crossed his face, but I pressed on. “You need to let me go. “Let you go? You think it’s that simple? We’ve shared so much! You can’t just erase that!” He stepped closer, his hands gesturing wildly. “Rina, we can fix this together. We can make it work!”
‘Can we? Because I don’t believe that anymore. You‘ ve hurt me too many times,” I said, shaking my head. “I’ve tried to understand, but now I just want to be free of this.
“Free? Free to do what, Rina? To run away from everything we‘ ve built?” His voice shook, revealing how much this was affecting him. “What about all the plans we made? What about the future we talked about?‘
“That future feels like a lie now. You can’t just pretend everything is okay because you want it to be,” I shot back, feeling the heat rise in my cheeks. “You had your chance, and you wasted it!” His face paled as the reality of my words hit him. “So that’s it? You re just done with me? Just like that?”
“Yes! I am done! You can’t keep holding on to something that isn’t there anymore,” I replied, my voice rising in intensity. “You need to face the truth, Darius.
“Face the truth?” he echoed, his tone incredulous. “And what truth is that, Rina? That you‘ re willing to throw away everything just because it’s gotten hard?”
anger up, but
“It hasn’t just gotten hard, it’s been broken! You broke it!” I could feel the ou were the one
I refused to let it overwhelm me. “You don‘ t see how your actions affected me. You were the one who chose to hurt me repeatedly!”
Darius looked wounded, and for a moment, I felt a pang of guilt. “I was young, Rina. We were young. I made mistakes, but who doesn’t?
“Not everyone has the luxury of making endless mistakes and expecting forgiveness,” I said sharply. “There comes a point where enough is enough, and this is mine.”
He sighed heavily, his shoulders slumping in defeat. “So, what s next? Are you just going to pretend I never existed?
“I won
I forget you, Darius. But I have to move on for my own sake. I can’t keep dragging myself

back to the pain,” I said, softening my tone just a little. “It’s about finding a way to heal.”
“Find a way to heal?” he scoffed, shaking his head. “You make it sound so easy. Like it’s just a walk in the park.
“Its not easy, but it’s necessary. I want to build a future that doesn‘ t include heartbreak,” I said, feeling more resolute with every word.
“Rina, please,” he whispered, his voice cracking. “Don’t do this.”
“I have to,” I replied, feeling tears prick at the corners of my eyes. “You have to let me go.
Rina, how can you do this to me? After everything we ve been through? You think I want to lose you?” His voice trembled, and I could see the depth of his pain.
“I never wanted to lose you either. But we‘ re not who we used to be. You‘ ve changed, and I have. too,” I said, wishing for understanding.
Darius shook his head. “No, you‘ re wrong! We can get back to that place! Just give me a chance! Please!‘

I stepped back, feeling the distance between us widen. “What you‘ re asking isn’t fair. You can’t just put all the blame on me because I refuse to stay in a toxic relationship. This isn‘ t about a second chance; it s about self–respect.
“Self–respect? So you think leaving is the answer? You think that will make you happy?” His eyes were fierce, challenging me to stand my ground.
Yes, because staying would only hurt me more. I deserve to find happiness, even if it means moving away from you,” I insisted, crossing my arms to protect myself from his piercing gaze.
Rina, you can t honestly believe that. You’re throwing away something real! he said, frustration pouring from his voice.
“What’s real, Darius? What’s real is the hurt you caused me. What’s real is the lack of trust. What’s real is the pain I can no longer bear,” I replied, feeling my heart race.
“Then let me prove to you that I can change. Just let me try!” His hands were now trembling, and I could see the desperation etched on his face.
“No, Darius. I can’t keep falling for words. I need action, and right now, I need space.
“Space? You think running away will fix everything? You think that’s going to make the pain go away?” he asked, incredulous.
“I’m not running away. I’m choosing to walk away from this cycle. I want to build something better, something healthier,” I explained, my voice steady.
“Rina, this isn t just about you anymore. You have to think about us! About what we mean to each
other!
“I’ve thought about us! Trust me, it’s all I’ve done! But I can’t keep living in the past. I need to focus on what’s next,” I shot back, feeling a fire ignite within me.
My wolf came out to speak. Then we spoke in unison “I, Rina Black Moon reject you Alpha Darius as my mate. I release you from the bond”
I felt little to no pain as the bond had already started to fade.
Then I turned around disregarding his face twisted with pain.
As I walked away, I heard his voice behind me, calling my name in desperation. But I didn’t stop. I would not stop.
