“Lily, I’m so disappointed in you!”
I heard Mark yell.
It was the same yell from the hospital.
Lily made me laugh.
I put the contract in front of them.
“The Joneses won’t be participating.”
Mark said, in disbelief, “We will be in the
same company!”
I said, “Lily’s the one who signed as the
contact.”
“She is not listed as part of the Jones
company’s design staff. She is a freelance

designer.”
I didn’t care for Mark’s words, “The contracts
say everything about the Jones company
working with her, you are so clear.”
Ben had put Lily in the company, and I knew
it would happen.
I prepared the agreement.
Lily didn’t know what she was doing.
As I left, I said, “Too bad. My wedding dress
was beautiful.”
I did not listen to the sounds behind me.
Later, the Jones’s company put out a
statement to end things with Lily.

The Millers had lost everything.
When Mark used someone else’s phone to
call me, he said, “Lily is nowhere as good as
you!”
“I was wrong. Will you come back?”
I hung up and blocked the number.
I had now blocked 58 numbers, and I
wondered where Mark had found them.
I leaned back.
After Lily’s chaos, I got on a plane to Dali.
I rented a house by the lake.

The wind blew, and it all seemed so long ago.
Ben had tried to ask his parents to forgive
Lily, and they’d yelled at him.
They had taken his shares.
Ben said a cop had knocked on the door.
It had been reported that he had been taking
bribes.
Ben never knew what Lily had done behind
his back.
Lily told Mark that she was pregnant.
Mark dragged her into the office.
く
Everyone heard the fight and they found Lily
on the floor, in blood.
She lost the baby and wouldn’t be able to
have children.
I didn’t ask how she had fallen.
The wind blew, and everything felt so far
away.
I wondered how she felt.
I looked up, and the sun was shining.
“Are you the one with the photo shoot?”
I got up and nodded.
Sarah, it doesn’t matter if no one cares about
you.
