- 7.
When I got to the hospital, both Mark and
Ben were there.
Mark was so angry that I was humming.
“Sarah, I’m so disappointed in you.”
“Lily’s your sister. You won’t help her, and you
let other people bully her.”
く
“My employees told me that you don’t let
them eat until they’re done with their work.”
“You didn’t used to be like this.”
The room was quiet.
Mark realized he was out of line. When he
saw me, he said nothing.
Ben jumped up from the couch and looked
down at me.
“Sarah, is this how you treat Lily when I’m not
here?”
“If Mark hadn’t been here, no one would have
noticed that Lily fainted. She’s always saying
good things about you!”
<
Lily tugged on Ben’s sleeve.
“It’s not Sarah’s fault.
“Sarah’s always been nice to me.”
Lily was pretending to defend me.
Ben got even angrier.
He looked at Mark, unhappy with his silence.
“Mark, you promised!”
“Sarah’s bullying Lily! If you don’t do anything,
I will.”
I bit my lip.
You didn’t get to this point, Sarah.
My fiancé and my brother didn’t like me.
I felt a headache and the room was spinning.
I used to think I was lucky.
Even though my parents worked all the time, I
had the best brother and the best fiancé.
Ben was two years older than me and always
looked out for me.
When I was running a fever, Ben rushed me to
the hospital, and his hands were shaking.
Everyone knew how much Ben loved his little
sister.
<
I didn’t know what I did wrong.
I did my best to explain myself, but it was as
if I suddenly became an outsider.
I stared at the three people by the bed.
I was close to breaking.
Mark suddenly stood up.
“Sarah, I know you didn’t mean to do it.”
“You still need to apologize to Lily. She’s your
sister.”
