Even though work kept me busy, I hadn’t felt this fulfilled in ages. felt like leveling up in a game, and every challenge sparked my drive. After a long day, I finally made it home, where I found the lights still on, and Chris waiting up for me.
For the first time, someone had dinner ready, waiting for me at home. Without realizing it, I smiled.
When I reached the living room, I found Chris asleep on the armchair, his legs stretched out and dangling off the edge. I chuckled, realizing he’d
outgrown the chair.
I hadn’t noticed it before, but he’d really grown up. Now that I looked closely, his physique was… impressive. I lowered my gaze, studying the faint definition of his chest muscles.
I was so focused that I didn’t notice him watching me back, his eyes.
half–open.
How did he keep his skin so smooth? I imagined how it’d feel–his fair, smooth skin, probably soft enough to bruise with a light touch. His robe hung low, exposing the strong outline of his shoulders and collarbone. I could see a hint of pink where his skin peaked.
The thought made my face flush, and shook my head, trying to clear it.
I crouched to cover him with a blanket but accidentally lost my balance, tumbling forward until I ended up leaning against his chest. My face landed close to his chest, dangerously near that faint pink spot.

Embarrassed, I tried to pull away, but the chair wobbled, and I stumbled, falling back against him.
I had no choice–completely accidental, of course.
With one hand on my waist, he sat up, steadying the chair. His voice was rough with sleep, “Nina, what are you doing?”
Blushing, I raised the blanket in front of my face. “I just… I just wanted to
cover you up
He chuckled, his voice vibrating against my shoulder. That’s when I realized I was still sitting on his lap.
Mortified, I threw the blanket over his head and scrambled back to my
room.
