As the two of them continued their search, the atmosphere felt different. With just a glance, Felicia was able to convey her intent, and Scarlet instantly understood. This rare synchronicity, this natural understanding between them, was almost seamless.
After walking for over an hour, Felicia stopped again, crouching down to examine the dried leaves on the ground while reaching her hand back to Scarlet.
Scarlet promptly handed her a small stick
Felicia took it and used it to sweep aside the dry leaves, revealing the damp, mucky soil beneath. It was accompanied by a strong, pungent smell.
Scarlet pinched her nose, clearly disgusted, but she didn’t retreat, She complained in a muffled voice, “What is that smell?”

Felicia rossed the stick aside and stood up, scanning the area with a faint smile at the corner of her mouth. “We’ve found the right place. This is their hideout.”
The traces on the ground proved that not long ago, someone had come down from the mountain. Judging by the footprints, it was just one person. It was unclear whether this person had gone down to contact others or to buy something
“We need to hurry,” Felicia said.
Once the location was confirmed, the search became easier. Occasionally, there were traces of footsteps, but most would have been hard to spot without Felicia’s sharp observation and keen sense of smell.
Scarlet kept pace with Felicia while sending messages to the other five mercenaries. Once the location was sent, five red dots on her tablet were rapidly moving in their direction.
Felicia didn’t stop. She kept walling, searching along the way.
The tracking skills she was using were ones she had learned from Stanley not long ago in the rainforest, and they were already coming in handy.
After following the trail for over an hour, they arrived at a bomb shelter built deep in the mountains.
This bomb shelter had clearly been abandoned for years, with vines almost completely covering the entrance. They left only one spot that had been cleared for
“Is this the place?” Scarlet frowned. “I don’t know what’s inside. If it’s full of people, we won’t stand much of a chance.”
She added, “How about this, boss? You stay hidden here, and I’ll go in to check
Before Scarlet could finish, Felicia pulled something out of her backpack and waved it at her. “No need. We have this.”
Felicia threw the object into the entrance.
It was a disguised mobile camera with infrared sensors, one of the pieces of equipment that she had asked the other five mercenaries to prepare before they set out It was expensive but incredibly useful.
Felicia had perfect aim, and the disguised camera landed right into the dark entrance.
She then took out her tablet, and the footage was already being displayed on the screen.
The camera that had been thrown into the entrance rolled around a few times, making the footage dizzying. But soon, it stopped and began moving slowly and steadily. As the camera moved, it didn’t capture any people inside the bomb shelter.
Felicia and Scarlet exchanged glances, both seeing a hint of confusion in each other’s eyes. Could they have found the wrong place?
