After a few days of hard work, I finished the experimental report early!
Professor Richard was very happy after reading it. He praised me highly and urged me to go back to my apartment and get some rest.

He was holding a bouquet of withered roses. His face was pale, and he was unshaven. He looked at me in surprise and rushed to me.

“Look, these are your favorite roses. I brought them for you from abroad.”
I frowned and pushed the flowers away.
“You’re mistaken. Mira likes roses. I’m allergic to pollen, and I’ve always kept my distance from flowers.”
Kingsley’s face turned red, and he whispered, “Sorry, I forgot.”
I ignored him and continued walking towards my apartment.
“Emelia!” Kingsley stopped me, anxiously asking, “Where are you going? Come back with me. I really can’t live without you!”
I said coldly, “We already broke up.”
“No!” Kingsley shouted wildly. “Why are we breaking up? We got married. We even had a wedding!”
I replied with a smile, “We never got the marriage certificate, so we’re not legally married. We don’t even need a divorce, just a breakup.”
Kingsley begged pitifully, “Come back with me. I’ll get the marriage. certificate with you right after I get off the plane. Trust me! I won’t cancel it again! Emelia, give me another chance, please!”
I tried to leave, but he grabbed me tightly.
He shouted, “Why? Why can’t you give me another chance?!”
I angrily slapped him.
Kingsley was stunned.
He might not believe I would actually hit him, and it took him a while to respond.
I gritted my teeth and said, “I’ve given you more than thirty chances! Why do you think I would keep tolerating you? There are no more chances
left.”
The security guard heard our argument and rushed over to hold Kingsley back.
“Professor Finley, are you OK?”
I shook my head. “Get him out of here. Don’t let him in again.”
Kingsley’s face turned pale, and his eyes were filled with shock.
“Emelia…don’t you love me anymore?”
I didn’t respond and quickly left.
Then I saw Mira run over. Her face was filled with anxiety.

I hadn’t seen her for five years, and she no longer had the delicate look from before. She looked tired and even older than me.

Mira sneered, “So what if she’s good? It was you who abandoned her. Why are you putting on a show now?
“Kingsley, she broke up with you, and now only I will love you. Even if you beg her, she won’t come back.”

Mira was scared and started crying again.
The security guard scolded them while calling an ambulance to take Kingsley to the hospital.

She forced a smile, explaining that after the lab was destroyed by Mira, it never recovered and eventually shut down.
She found a new job in a pharmaceutical company as a quality inspector.
“Professor Finley, Kingsley…he went crazy, you know?”
I shook my head indifferently.
Zoe sneered. “Mira is such a troublemaker. She’s mean and vicious. She drugged Kingsley and stole all his research data. She even ran off with his assets. Kingsley went insane after that.”
I listened quietly and felt indifferent.
He made all these mistakes, so he had to take the consequences.
“Emelia,” Frank called gently. “The dinner’s about to start. Everyone’s waiting for you.”
Zoe exclaimed in surprise, “Wow, boyfriend? Congratulations! He’s so handsome!”
I blushed. “No, he’s…”
“Not yet,” Frank interrupted with a smile. “But I hope I could be her boyfriend soon.”
Zoe laughed and said goodbye to us.
I looked at Frank shyly.
Frank smiled warmly and reached out his hand.
I thought for a moment, then held his hand.
I still had my whole life ahead of me, and it’s OK to try with this excellent and handsome man.
